MotB question about pre-MotB romance

    So, anyone figured out if the romance with Elanee or Casavir gets any sort of proper closure or is it just glossed over?

    I'm not to the end yet, but so far there is very little mention of previous companions. So, I'm guessing the previous romance will not be mentioned.

    There was one conversation that I recall where the fates of the companions was mentioned in a very cryptic manner, and it seemed Khelgar at least was seen to be alive after the collapse.

    And it seems that I met Bishop being absorbed into the Wall of the Faithless, so I guess he got crushed before he could get out.

    Thanks. I guess they couldn't have said that, though they could at least have said something like, "Yes, there is a clear solution of the previous romantic thread, although we're not telling you the specifics." I had asked so many times before the game was released and it was consequently ignored. Now the mystery is solved. ;) Pity they're dead, though. I liked both of them. Elanee had her own character even despite being such an obvious Jaheira II. Casavir was a solid friend and competent ally with a story to tell and a good spine. I don't seem to be drawn to MotB PCs, but I still need to get the game in the first place. ;)

    actually, when they tell you the news, there really isn't any special reply whatsoever

    someone: elanee didn't make it out alive, i'm pretty sure i saw her in that blood pool
    your PC: oh, okay

    someone: casavir died when a huge rock fell on his head
    your PC: whatever...

    What the...? That sounds quite insensitive and the Elanee line isn't even a credible report of someone's death. How crude of the devs.

    Also, does the line happen before the start of the new romance or does it take place when the new romance is already progressing?

    Damn it. It takes more than that to mourn a loved one! If this confirms, I'm going to write a letter to the devs after playing the game.

    You run across one of your companions in the game and you're told what happened.

    The interesting thing for me was it said Elanee left the party in the Mere of Dead Men and didn't follow us into fight the King of Shadows. Then near the end with the "romance dialog" one of my options was to say there is another woman in my life; an elf woman.

    What the fridge? So there are actually multiple possible solutions to the OC romance and the new romance starts before the old one begins? Come on, that's just lame. What you describe reeks of poor design on Obsidian's part.

    Well, in MotB there really isn't much to the romance (just innuendo of caring, enjoying company etc.) until near the end, and even then it's a declaration and then some dialogs with "my love" in them. Then the denouement sequence has you getting married. So nothing really involved during the plot; which is all to the better IMO given the situation :)

    first he asks you what YOU remember, then he tells you what HE remembers

    so if you want to know what happened to elanee after the final battle, don't tell him she left the party in the mere of dead men
