I've always wanted a golden tablet saying, "Chevalier, Pwnz0r at Law."

I love the evidently disapproving comments from the Professor of English!

I'd quickly become attached to 'w00t' years ago - mostly because it doesn't have the spiteful undertones that much '1337 speke' has - and I bristle at Mr. Metcalf's elitist and disparaging comments.

After all, how does it feel to know that the American Dialect Society's executive secretary feels you are "a small community" and you are "unlikely to spread [woot]"?

Because of this gauntlet Allan Metcalf has smacked me in the muzzle with, then flung to the ground, I whole-heartedly intend to not only woot as much as I can myself, but also encourage others (especially those 'luddites' that aren't online) to embrace this word of triumph and whimsy!

And then, once this valuable term has entered the common vernacular, and people of all walks of life feel it is perfectly acceptable to softly cry 'woot!' after some minor success or stroke of good fortune, I would dearly love to go to the offices of A.D.S. and then...major w00tage would ensue. :D

Ehh... Just shows that relying on online polls for anything that's supposed to be serious research is a colossally bad idea.

I quite like |337 - not to any overbearing amount, but it adds a nice internety undercurrent to things. It's original words are just standard words of my vocabulary these days :)

In a similar vein, if anyone is a fan of LOLcats, I urge you to check out Laugh-Out-Loud Cats - a series of comics about a pair of old fashioned hobo cats who happen to speak in LOLcat speak. Very funny, and the cartoonist is very prolific.
