OK, I thought I'd make this off the back of the 'Cigarettes and beer' thread.

Name your favourites, really and where it's from... :)

    Lagers:

Grolsch (Holland) "Shtop.. this is not ready yet. You can't rush this, you know"
Stella Artois (Belgium) "Reassuringly expensive" (possible not the best advertisement campaign slogan ever)
    Carling (England) "Dambusters"
    Cobra (India) Asia's finest!

    Bitters:

Wychcraft (England) "Afraid of the dark, Lagerboy?"
Old Speckled Hen (England) No slogan I know of... just nice :)
Spitfire (England) The best ad campaigns EVER, completely not politically correct "Ref, watch the Germans, they're always trying to nick a few extra yards"

    Ale/Stout:

Guinness (Ireland) "Good things come to those who wait"
Leffe Blonde (Belgium) No commercials I know of, but an awesome beer

That's a few of the best, there's plenty more out there, and probably a few I've missed.

    My favorites:
    Foreign: Guinness
Domestic: Dixie Blackened Voodoo (on tap on Bourbon Street is the best)

I will also drink anything from Samuel Adams.

Guinness - Everything else is not beer, it's just some version of imposter. Lagers are not even imposters, they are what happens after your body is done with real beer.

Newcastle is my favorite beer. For a pale ale I like Sierra Nevada or Fat Tire. Lagers aren't my thing, though I will drink 'em if there is nothing else and I feel like a beer. I don't do light beer at all.

dmc: Perhaps. But even light beer is better than soda.

Damn! I missed it! My overall favorite is FREE. As long as someone else is buying, I'm just fine with it.

What are your favorite Sam Adams beers? I've been told that Sam Adams is actually quite good, but considering that they have a billion different types, it's kind of hard to find a good tasting beer for someone who doesn't like beer to begin with... :rolling:

I must admit I have switched from beer to (particularly red) wine over the years. :heh: Still...:

Favourite: Guinness, since the time I was in Publ...err, DUBLIN. And I have to say it tastes best straight from the tap, and it gets better the closer you are to the Liffey.

Favourite local brew: Green Tuborg, or Carlsberg Imperial Stout.

I'm not exactly a beer drinker and really can't differentiate which one is good or bad... except that they all taste bitter. But being one working in a company that's famous for it, I might as well do some shameless adverts here.

If you come over to Asia, the Philippines in particular, San Miguel Beer is the best.

Barmy - you can't be serious. Stella Artois is awful. The worst beer in the world. Even worse than Budweiser.

Chandos - now you are talking. Rolling Rock is my favourite American beer.

Of course, New Zealand beer is best. Monteiths Black in the winter and Monteith's Summer Ale at this time of the year.

I'm not much a fan of lagers. Scottish ale for me - Samuel Adams when I can't get a MacTarnahan's - or a stout or porter, when I want something heavier. I'll drink almost anything from Deschutes Brewery, and the Sam Smith's line out of England has quite a few good offerings.

Booo, spot the Ned! Gonna have to get CJ a Burberry cap...

    Anyway.
    Lager:
Tiger (South Asia, Singapore brewery is better than the China brewery)
    Corona (Mexico)
    Sol(Mexico)
    Miller(US)
    Grolsch(Holland)
    Kronenburg 1664 (not sure)

    Beers:
    Deuchars IPA
    20 Shilling

Not a fan of Guiness really.

I'm going to go Nationalistic and say San Miguel Beer. From the Philippines. Not this fake stuff they make here in Spain. They may've had the name first but they lack in quality.

I also like Heineken but since I've been having so much of it since getting to Europe the novelty is wearing off a bit. I like Guiness as well.

Leffe, I think. Saint Landelin, a French one, tasted great the first time, less so the second, although I used to think it was the best one I'd ever had. Chimay is quite to my taste. Guinness or Kilkenny, sure. From local ones (Polish) - Tyskie. Chances are you might know this one.

Back in the day, I loved a beer called Red Dog, it was a cross between a Lager and an Ale. I also got hooked on Ricards Red.
