    Hello,

I have BG1 imported to BG2 engine by EasyTutu, fyi.

I have started a new game and currently have a party consisting of Imoen, Xzar, Mortadon (sp?), Jaheira and Khalid.

    Here comes the problem:

As soon as I reach Nashkel, I get assaulted by the Amn soldiers waiting by the bridge. And the moment I start that forced fight, Imoen departs by saying "enough of this evilness" and towards the middle of the fight Jaheira and Khalid desert me for the same reason too.

What the heck is going on ? Is that due to some reputation thingy? If I can not be playing the rest of the game with Imoen, Jaheira and Khalid, the storyline will surely be crippled a lot. I don't want to lose the guys, but hey, what's wrong here ?

    Please help.

    Thanks in advance.

I would guess killing the guards lowers your reputation to a point where Imeon, Jaheria, and Kaleid split. You just need to avoid the guards. I think I remember them attacking me too. If you get your reputation high enough I don't think they will attack you anymore.

So how can I mend that reputation problem?

    Seriously, I'm stuck.

Reload. You saved it! Giving money to a church or some quests give you some reputation points. Go do the Naskel MInes quest if you haven't I think that might yeild some.

Giving money to any church will help it ?

Btw, I can't reach Nashkel mines, the game gets already stuck at the very entrance to Nashkel town itself.

Your have to give so much money for a rep point to a church. I just thowing this out there but it is early in the game. You could restart.
Does everyone hate you? That they wouldn't let you into the mine because I think there is a probably a certain dialog option that lets you in. Saving Prism Grants you rep I think he's in that area. (You have to accept bounty first)

Man, those Nashkel mines are below Nashkel city. So you have make through Nashkel town itself before being able to proceed any further. And as the thread says, I'm being attacked at the very first sight of Nashkel's entrance where my fellows depart. I guess it's clear.

I'll try and see if donating some serious money (I have around 1800) will help or not.

Dude the mines are not under the city. they are to the south, try exploring. I think there is a circus to the east too. LOL Leave the guards alone.

Well, I'll see if I can make it to the mines before going to Nashkel.

I have donated around 300 to the Temple located to the east of Beregost and that made my reputation rise by one point: All party members are Despised (4) now (they were Despised (3) prior to the donation).

Still, however, I was attacked by the Amnish soldiers waiting by the entrance of Nashkel. Hope things turn around. I can still accept advices though.

    Thanks so far.

According to the manual it should be random if guards spawn or not, so you can try reloading until you don't get this encounter.
You can also keep on donating until your reputation is so high that guards won't spawn anymore, the sums you have to donate and the reputaion you need to achieve are in the back of the manual.
Another option is just letting the non-evil party members go, there are enough evil NPCs in the game, there are enough powerful evil NPCs you can get for your party.

    Hear what I get:

I entered Nashkel from the eastern side. EVerything seemed fine. I even met Minsc there and let him join my party. As soon as he was in, Amnish soldiers came over and tore him down in an instant.

What the hell is going on, I have no idea. Are those Amnish soldiers hardcoded to be hostile, no matter what your reputation is? Ok, I'm gonna fight 'em but will I still be deserted then ?

    Quick reputation:

-Friendly arm inn: Bring the ring to the woman in the little house to the left of the castle courtyard entrance.

-Beregost: take the book to the Elven Sage from Candlekeep.

Or just restart the game. You are very near the start.

Would like to clarify about this ?

By the way, donating to the temple near Beregost decreases your reputation, despite it says it is increased. I went there Despised (4) and as soon as I had made a sufficient donation to make my reputation rise, I turned out to be Disliked (5). Isn't that weird ?

That is raising it. Higher is better.

Why was your reputation so low to begin with? If you insist on playing an evil character (stealing, fighting with the guards, killing innocent people) then you should surround yourself with evil party members -- at this juncture: Xzar, Montaron, Kagain, and Edwin. Try to keep your reputation above 5 or you will be facing guards (primarily Flaming Fists) in every area you go in to.

With reputation of 4 the quests I mentioned won't matter much...

But still, the sage is Firebead Elvenhair or something, his house is one in the row of houses on the right in the middle lower left part of Beregost, but I could be wrong, this is from memory, so don't take my word for it.

What did you do to get the rep so low in the first place?
T2 is right, the good characters will not stick around with that reputation.

As for ROFLMAO, check the FAQ, FightCat. ( rolling on the floor laughing... ) I won't finish that. I am a lady, after all.

    To summarize:

    1) They're attacking you because your reputation's too low.
    2) You can raise reputation by donating to churches (any churches), check the manual for how much you have to donate. IIRC it's 1K for one point.
    3) You can raise reputation by doing quests, also. The elven sage of Candlekeep is across the street from Feldeposts'.
    4) If you have a low reputation because you're playing evil, then screw it, kill those guards. If you're evil, you don't need goodie two shoes like Immy, Khalid and Jaheira anyway. Obviously you can't get Edwin without beating those guards, but you can go back to Beregost and pick up Kagain if you want.

Well I guess I was involved twice in taking down the guards that came after me as they noticed that I was "messing with" people's belongings..Ahem..

Also, I've payed the church twice and now I have Disliked (6). Do you think that will help my situation?

Ah. I know what that means exactly but I failed to see why he used that. Not so important though. Not that I feel insulted or something.

Thanks to you so far. I guess I'll be dropping feedback eventually.

    --

Ah, Thank you so much, Loreseeker, Vhailor and all. That Firebead Elvenhair helped my reputation even further. Now I'm Disliked (7) -the only time of my life I'll be rejoicing for being disliked, I guess.

I arrived at Nashkel without any problems and hence fades my problem.

    Thanks again for your recommendations.
