Is there any order in which I should add mods?

After I apply the official patch (201) what, if any, order should I install the mods in? I think I remember one of them saying to install it first but can’t remember which one. I think it was “ease of use”.
    I’ll be using:

    “ease-of-use” by westley weimer
“Bonus & collector’s edition cd merchants”
“Ammo belts and bottomless bags” by tioma
    “bonus merchant” by westley weimer
    “cleric domains” by tioma
"Light of Selune " by Crucis
And mind child’s mod as well.

Is there any order in which I should install them? Or does it not matter?

well, considering i believe i'm the only one that needs to modify the exe (except max exp/ level mods...), it shouldnt matter when you install mine :p

the bonus CD stuff should be first (because it would be there if you had the bonus CD and thus isnt quite a mod anyway)

i think bonus merchant and belts and bags should go next as they dont seem to have anything that interfere....the ease of use...not sure if that interferes and i don't remember what all it has in it but if there is a mod in EoU that adds bottomless bags...dont worry about the other one...

dang i hate waiting. if i try to check the status of my order it says that it might be delivered as late as july 17th :(
but i'm sure it will come next week. they usually take only 3-4 days max.

With a Baldur's Gate Trilogy Megamod installation the install order really matters, but Icewind Dale 2 is hardcoded, and the few mods made for it can't change much. I believe the install order for WeiDU mods is entirely interchangeable.

IMPORTANT: Ease-of-Use's WeiDU installer is v137, really old. Download the latest WeiDU version 207 to replace the Setup-IWD2-Ease.exe with, or you can only install Ease-of-use first, and can't uninstall. Also some parts of the mod don't work then, so you really need to update.
    http://www.weidu.org/~thebigg/WeiDU-Windows-207.zip

Unless you want to have the paladin sword limited to 13+WIS characters, I'd advise you to install Ease-of-use component Improved Holy Avenger AFTER the Light of Selune mod.

For example, Ease-of-use has an option "Armor and Shields Provide Damage Resistance". This is only for native game items, not those added by mods. It doesn't matter if you install it before or after.
Even Westley Weimer's own Bonus Merchants' armours don't get the damage reduction. Actually MindChild's fix would be better for applying damage reduction to ALL armours, but I should stop coming up with ideas for MindChild to work on.:o:rolleyes:

MindChild's fix isn't the only exe-patcher out there. You might consider installing the level 40 XP patcher later in the game

You should be careful with what you add, some mods or mod components destroy the balance.

"Armor and Shields Provide Damage Resistance" makes it nearly impossible for most monsters to damage you for example.

Agreed, it does make it WAY easier...but if you install the tactics mod, perhaps it will balance a little better :p

Not in Heart of Fury - Insane difficulty. Goblins damage you for 20-30 a hit, and getting hit for 100+ damage by mosters is not uncommon.

But I agree, I wouldn't recomment it for normal mode.

If this is your first time using WeiDU:
In the zipfile is a file named WeiDU. You should copy and rename this file to your game folder, where you have unpacked mods like ease-of-use. The Setup-IWD2-Ease.exe is a similar file, but an older version that works badly. You could delete it and rename the WeiDU file as Setup-IWD2-Ease.exe, that's what I did. When you run it for the first time, it will update all setup files in the game folder. Voilá, ease-of-use is good as new.

    install the patch 201(duh)
bonus merchant (from BG2) by doesn't say
    cleric domains by tioma

The list looks okay. Just curious as to why you're adding on all these mods in your first playthrough?

Ease of use - lots of good options, just don't blindly install everything. Keep away from randomized treasure. You can install the others as you like. Many feel the Improved Shapeshifting is *cough* over powerful *cough*.

Cleric Domains - I've never really used tioma's new cleric domains, as I like the ones included in the game.

Light of Selune - I really like this mod. There's lots of new armors and weapons included (especially for rangers). It also makes some changes to the ranger class. But I think these additions are significant enough that it might be worth a normal playthrough at least once before installing.

Mindchild's mod is also quite good. Again, though, I think a playthrough of the vanilla game might be worthwhile as a baseline for determining what changes you might or might not care for.

Be sure to update WeiDU before you install Ease-of-use.
It won't install otherwise, so now you know what's wrong when it doesn't.
check MY posts in the link below, it links you to EVERY mod I know of, perhaps there's more you'd like to install. Tweaks is definitely missing for your install. Mostly the install order doesn't matter, since all mods are minor changes, and the game remains stable.
Only don't install Icewind Gate 2 untill you actually use it, this way you can benefit from the added druid spells. Ignore the first post from 2004 with all the dead links.
Don't forget to read my second post in the thread, where it tell about installing.

let me run this by you to make sure i understand what your trying to tell me :)

    i got the WeiDU-windows-207 file

when i unrar it i get the following files:

examples folder (don't understand any of what is in there. lol)
    COPYING file
README - WeiDU internet link/web page
    README - WeiDU - changes
    tk84.dll
    ToLower
    WeiDU
    WeiGUI
    WeInstall

    you recomend:
rename the WeiDU file as Setup-IWD2-Ease.exe

i leave it in the same folder right? and then i run THAT (what was previously the WeiDU file) file?

do i unrar the files into the game folder or do i keep it seperate? or does it matter?

that sounds about right. You can unrar the WeiDU files in the game folder, or just WeiDU.exe
Be sure to keep the newest WeiDU for your Baldur's gate install too

Oh, and so you don't forget:
    1) Install Light of Selune before Ease-of-Use Improved Holy Avenger to bypass the added WIS requirement from LoS.
    2) Don't install LoS component Upgraded Classes, because it cripples your sorcerer (diplomacy & bluff cost 2 skillpts instead of 1), destroys the ranger reflex saving throw progression, and many more crippling restrictions.
    3) Don't install the Ease-of-Use Randomized Items component, as is causes CRASHES!
    4) You have to alter the config file included in MindChild's fix, so it alters only what you want it to.
    5) If you ever get around to playing Icewind Gate 2, read the instructions in the walkthrough carefully, to install it.

It's the same one, have you never installed mods for BG2? Oh boy, you're in for a surprise. BG2 is the most modded game in history! There's over 200 mods.
It took me weeks to figure out the correct install order, and even then you'll need to weed out bugs constantly. But the amount of material on offer is HUUUUGE, I've been playing for six months now. My installation it 15+ GB now, and play has become slow, but it's worth it.
A german guy has tried to make a guide with installation instructions for all mods, it will help you, but the express install didn't work for me.

Don't lose interest in IWD2 now, it's 3e ruleset, and the battles are more challenging and fun.

the only mod i ever added to BG2 is the one that allows you to add soulafaien to your party and the one that updates some weapons to be upgraded that were not upgradeable before. like celestial fury upgrades to +5 for example.

will definitely have to look into it after ID2. BG2 with ToB is my favorite game :)
thanks for the link to the mods. much appreciated.
