Damn...all the Aspen trees in my area are all past their peak colors. :bad: I guess I'll have to wait until next year to get the pictures I wanted.

I need a sugar-mamma so I can quit my job... :rolling:

I'm getting increasingly certain that my window has a draught. Which is odd considering that it has an odd lock on it that prevent it from being opened. Hmm...

Playing PES with my brother... and I'm not losing by horible margins... odd. :p

Still no beautiful colours on the trees here - but in a few weeks - they should be in full peak. :)

 Raagh, I want to empty one of my HDD onto my external HDD, and it's taking ages, despite USB 2.0!!!

I just want to format the bloody thing to kill off some darned file I cannot delete because it is 'in use'! And after that, I'll have to play them all back!!!

Also, my explorer is crashing occasionally, but I won't fix it because I will get myself a new computer soon anyway, and it would be a waste of time.

Rag, formatting a drive because of a locked file is overkill. If this happens again, two simple solutions:
    1. Get Process Explorer, kill all processes that have a lock on the file then delete it. You may have to delete it from a command prompt window but it should work.
    2. If nothing you can do within Windows seems to work, get a bootable Linux distro and delete it from there. Most new distros can deal with writing to NTFS.

I wouldn't risk that - writing to NTFS is unstable and unreliable.

Well, I did it already, and in the process also increased the size of my OS partition using partition magic. Overkill ... dunno, my Explorer is more stable without that file (I had numerous explorer crashes when I tried opening the volume it was on in the explorer). I don't even want to know what that was. Apparently no virus, but something rotten anyway :skeptic: I react to something like that roughly. No trash on my comp!

Thanks for the hint with the Process Explorer. I'll check it out next time :shake:

What I learned is that my new external hard drive writes slowly. The entire process took about 12 hours. Copying the files (~50GB) to the HDD took two or three hours or so, roughly. At times it was as if I heard my IDE controller weeping. And I found I couldn't watch the slow progress  I certainly do want SATA! And I wonder whether my old computer does in fact support USB 2.0 :skeptic: Something to find out ... Anyway, readjusting system volumes and formatting went over night, and I didn't stay up to see how long it took, but it was four hours at least. Playing the files back took some 40 minutes.
Out of the question for me because I don't know LINUX at all, and I won't jump into cold water and try out a new OS to fix a crippled and apparently crippling file. Mind you, we were speaking of overkill.

On an entirely different page, it's a wonderful and sunny day :coffee2: :xx:

Woa, it has been a while since I babbled here. I guess university kept me busy, but it is so much fun! Though sometimes I feel like the teachers just want to keep feeding us information until my brain hurts :p.

Anyhow, just thought I'd stop by and say " Hello! ", so uh...

    Hello!

Well, maybe if you are superstitious you should just post again really really quickly after you have reached that number :D.

Nah. 13 is my lucky number. It has the straight, but vulnerable looking 1 and a big, wobbly 3 that make a perfect pair.

7? 7 is too arrogant. Just look at it. It's sticking it's long nose out while making a pompous backwards lean.

I did say bootable Linux. You put the CD in, it boots and runs from the CD, you delete the file, restart the computer, and you're back to Windows but without the file. You do not need to install the OS (that would be much more overkill than a simple format!)

And yes, VLC is excellent for obscure file formats.

Now that finances are getting in decent shape, first thing I'm gonna do in less than two weeks is get rid of my damn ISP and that crappy ADSL. I'll pay your damn ECF and I will even stop by to bring back your stupid modem. And by ricochet, this means I'll ALSO be KICKING BELL OUT!

And, new car wouldn't be a bad idea either. Two accidents in the same day killed my poor Ranger. And some more phones too. And then maybe I'm just going to move in my own flat - I don't care if it's 1 1/2, as long as it's my own place.

Working in a damn convenience store has it's rewards - nice chicks, for example. Drunken idiots and dumb people also make my day. This week, for example, a drunken idiot stopped by to buy a pack of smokes, and fell asleep counting his spare change. Another guy offered me $20 if I sold him a bottle of wine outside legal hours. Oh, yeah, and I had a long discussion with a chick on rolling paper, which brand is better, which one is the best bang for the buck - I felt like a salesperson. Oh, yeah, and how could I forget the guy who bought EIGHT cans of Hype because they are in promotion? Priceless. There are also some regulars, one stops by at 4:30AM to buy five scratchers. The other comes at 4:30, gets a coffee, scratchers, and the newspaper. He comes back half an hour later, brings me a pile of lotteries to check, buys more scratchers. Then, a batch of scratchers to check, then some more scratchers. I see this guy five times in the morning, and it's always the same routine.

I tried to watch ECW over WWE.com, but they require some Silverlight. Since I have time to do so, I googled it. When I get the official site, there's four things to download. Okay, I start with the first one, and opt for the registered way of doing things. Well, at one point they ask me what my interest is, and I didn't know what half that stuff was, and being able to watch something online was not on the list, so I got out of that and was going to try the unregistered way--only to find out that I couldn't get anywhere!

Ah well, off to google VLC...
