It used to be 92, 93, 94 (for police, ambulance and fire department), but they say that they will be moving it all to 112. (Not sure if that has happened yet).

A coworker of mine has a headlice infestation in her family. She scratches her head a lot. She has two very young kids they must've gotten it from school I guess. Now everytime my scalp or beard itches I'm terrified of the possibility of the infestation spreading to me. Such a lovely christmas present that'd be.

    Jingle bells.

Odd...the company I work for anounced that they are cutting 12% of its workforce last week, and ever since, our stock price has been going up. :skeptic:

The price just needs to go up another $10 per share for me to break even.

I have a sudden urge to pick up some chinese at the restaurant which is side-by-side with work.

I might just cave in. It's been ages since I last had some General Tao's chicken...

    It's 111 in New Zealand.

That's not odd at all. It means your management are taking rational steps to cut costs to improve profits. Shareholders like improved profits.

/me takes Dragofly's chocolate fudge. Thank you!

    [Rant]

Since I'm all free for the next weeks or so of academic work, I decided to try NWN2 / Motb a second time, this time from the very beginning (and annoying) West Harbor village. Since also, godforbid, killing orcs and undead in Warcraft 3 grew tiresome. So there I was in the bandit encampment when the inefficiency and sheer retardation (is that even a word?) baffled me beyond belief. I mean, if some dude was rushing toward me with a freakin' 70 inches sword and all I had to defend myself was a bow I'd run like hell. But NO not the almighty AI, not only that Neshka didn't even switched target to her assailant, she didn't thought of drinking her healing potion was a good idea either. So while she was butchered Khelgar and my elven cleric were busy killing other dudes with melee weapons, all was ok (apparently the AI allows Khelgar to gulp down every healing potions even when he don't need one but not Neshka when she's being choped in two by a Greatsword, go figure!). So, when all the dudes in the immediate vicinity were dead, Khelgar decided to rush and attack some archers some distance away, fine with me they annoyed me anyway. So, Neshka's out, and her attacker now decides I'm his next target, so I order my cleric to strike back. I could've survived if Khelgar actually went and took care of those archers, instead, at midway, he turned and went to *protect* me (Of course I didn't need it). The Archer evidently continued to fire at the dwarf, so I decide to switch back to Khelgar and tell that stupid dwarf to freakin' kill the archers. Meanwhile, my cleric suddenly stopped attacking with his sword and instead the almighty AI decided it was time to cast 0-level spell, like Virtue and Resistance. Why the f*** ?! Obviously all the spell failed and he got killed in the process. Now all that remains (barely) alive is Khelgar, who got killed by the...archers.

    Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight..... that was glorious

So, I reload and turn off that bloody Artificial "Intelligence" and activated the puppet mode only to find out that it also turn off the automated movement! They don't follow the leader anymore! Again, I ask, why the **** not?!

AI? more like AIn't. Why can't I turn off that bloody AI and still let my team follow me? Why is it so retarded and makes the stupidest tactical decision?

    [/Rant]

    Urrgh, I hate this!

    There, there, Ofelix.
Never having tried it I can't really empathize. But I can tell you are not happy.

Meanwhile, Time magazine has compiled its Top 10 Most Awkward Moments in 2008. Very U.S.-centric but still funny. At number 9 this is my personal favorite.

    http://www.time.com/time/specials/2008/top10/article/0,30583,1855948_1864014_1864023,00.html

No doubt because of my nostalgic personal ties to Duke.

Here it is 65F, which is about 18C. Very odd for December in Tennessee. On Sunday the high should be 45F, about 7C, with low well below freezing that night, more in the usual range. OTOH we have had enough rain to be out of the drought, I hope.

Hmm, may have to go to the store tomorrow, violating my master plan of not re-entering a retail establishment until after Christmas. Oh, well.

Babble bells, babble bells, babble all the way,
Oh what posts we shall compose in a one horse open sleigh!

Woa, I forgot how the original Star Fox* on the Snes could be so damn hard! Well, at the highest difficulty, the other difficulty level being just too easy. I don't know if it's because of the nostalgia, but man that game is awesome! 3D, on the Snes! Hundreds of polygons it's madness !

*Star Wing in Europe, I heard it got a renamed due to some trademark issue over the name "Star Fox" which is a shame, it's really about a fox in space blowing up stuff.

A some friends of mine are having a graduation party. They trucked in a load of sand and turned their swimming pool into a beach, got a smoke machine, a strobe light, and...2 cases of vodka, with a BYO alcohol invitation.

They of course have no idea what to do with the sand when the party's over

If your worried just take a mix of 1/2 cup mineral oil and 1/2 cup vinegar and mix them together. Then go into the tub and pour that on your hair and scalp and massage it in. Put on a shower cap and wait for about 45min. Then go and wash out the mixture. If you have any critters in there then they will now be dead. If you didn't have any critters in there then you just gave yourself a nice hair treatment that will help a dry scalp. Its a win win solution. :D * If you do find dead lice then make sure you repeat the treatment in a couple of weeks to get any new ones that might hatch if the critters had time to lay eggs. After that they should be all gone.

This treatment does work. My kid brought some home for school a couple of years ago and I used the stuff on the whole family just to be safe. Never saw the little nasty buggies again after that.

I guess that's one way of thinking of it....In my mind I can't help but think that if a company has to resort to layoffs, then bankruptcy can't be far off... :bad:

Had a weird moment yesterday. I was visiting my sister and noticed a picture on her shelf. For a moment I thought it was a picture of me as a child, then I realized it was her grandson. I never thought of this before but we do look alike in some ways.
