Okay. Recently me and my dad picked up Serenity at a bargin sale, watched it, found out Firefly was on special, bought it, and proceeded to watch the whole thing in a few weeks. And tonight we just watched Serenity again. Needless to say, I'm totally obsessed now. Firefly - just - Firefly.

    Anyone other fans here?

It is great. I would even say that it is Joss Whedon at his best. Unfortunately we all know how it ended, thanks to FOX "let us kill all the good shows" network. Consequently I expect them to drop Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles after the second season.

    *sigh* I hate you FOX...

Definitely. One of the coolest sci-fi shows in recent memory and that is an understatement. Character development and pacing are extremely well done, imho.

An ex-girlfriend got me hooked on this show -- I loved it. One of these days if I get the money I'm gonna get the shows and the movie. The writing, style, characterizations and setting were all extremely engaging and well done. You cared about the characters and you ended every episode saying "that was really cool!"

This is probably the only show wherein I loved everyone of the mainstay characters. It's a shame they had to end it too soon.

Don't have the links handy, but the consensus seems to be that's already canceled, they're just not announcing it for whatever reason until May.

Anyone think Dollhouse gets extended? I don't.

Brilliant show, good thing they killed it.

I bought the show on DVD a few years ago after I read a few things about it, but never having seen anything of it or really knowing what it was about. Since then it became one of my favorite tv shows of all time (top 3 I'd say). The problem with tv shows nowadays in my opinion is that they just go on and on, they just don't know when to quit. Firefly is perfect, it never went bad and due to its early cancellation it received a cult status. I don't mind the weird faces I get when I mention it and people have never heard of it. But those who have seen it, love it. They could have perhaps made a few more episodes, maybe even a second season, but I'd rather have an early cancellation than a show that drags on.

You've obviously never seen The Wire or Deadwood.

The former is simply the greatest TV drama of all time (Alan Moore thinks so, and who are you to disagree with Alan Moore ;)). It's five seasons long.

Firefly was such a great concept, the characters were great and really well written. The universe is fantastic, who doesn't love cowboys in space!? :D Though I was a late comer to the scene, I never saw it broadcast just on DVD, I am sad that it ended so soon. But I am also glad that it did not go the way alot of TV shows do, which is that they start good and get progressively worse. Eg. Heroes being the most recent culprit I can think of.

There's an RPG of it out there somewhere, anyone know if its any good?

I actually only recently discovered Firefly. God bless Hulu.

I'd written it off as lame because I watched Serenity before ever watching a single episode of Firefly, and since I didn't know the characters and wasn't invested it struck me as contrived "Xena: Warrior Princess" kind of stuff. I turned the movie off after about a half hour, disinterested. Then recently I watched the first few episodes of Firefly from the beginning and liked it so much I just ended up marathoning the entire series in a few days.

I think it's a shame it got killed so early* but at the same time I have to agree with Mes. It's short, precious and memorable - which makes it more special, in a way. I won't think twice about owning the entire series on DVD/Blue Ray, whereas I don't think I'd ever buy another series that was more than 2-3 seasons. Usually shows that only last a season and get cancelled aren't that good and thus not worth owning. Firefly is a happy exception.

    * Whose bright idea was it to air the episodes out of order and market it as a comedy, FOX? Idiots. They kill more good shows than cancer.
