    Ha! If only that were true I'd understand, but the utility is free! To give them credit, they do have a notice about the issue, but it's just one among many others; I think they should put a warning where you download the thing since it's such a bad result... Oh, and I didn't see any notification in the Read Me or the Release Notes which I scanned before downloading it.

    PC upgrading is fun, and when you got everything assembled and running ok you even get a sense of accomplishment - to then go on to build on that good feeling by playing a new game i.e. enjoying the fruit of your labour - nice ;)

    I have successfully recoverd from DotW's curse! All new HDDs have been returned to the store for a refund, the old drives put back in, and the final (hopefully) array rebuild is complete! Whew! What a PITA!

    Bah! RAID 5 is just a nice automatic backup of everything in 1/4 of the space (in my case of using 4 drives). I lost none of my data through the whole ordeal. Sure it was a waste of my time because of a bad piece of software and a lack of a clear warning, but that could have happened with any piece of important driver software that was bad.

    RAID 10 (not 0+1) FTW! :bigeyes:

    My buddy at school has 2 storage setups for his computer. His tower has 4 1TB drives in a RAID 10 and he has a NAS box with 4 1TB drives in a RAID 5. We played with several RAID levels on his Adaptec card and while the RAID 5 had more usable capacity and is hot swappable, the RAID 10 was way faster.

    While not logical, we made an 8 drive RAID 0 array...just for kicks. That made us drool, but for his job, he needed a lot of redundancy; so he stuck the RAID 5 in the NAS, and has the RAID 10 as his boot drive. I wish I had the money to do something similar. :bad:
