I was excited yesterday when Saablic Tan dropped a Tymora's loop in normal mode. No reloading or anything, a completely legit drop. "This will boost my berserker's damage output dramatically," I thought, and it was so. Then today I went through the War Tower, and IIRC in the room with Pustule and Rustblade, I found ANOTHER Tymora's Loop! Again, completely legit. And yes, Tymora's Loop plus Tymora's Loop plus Big Death equals a lot of death.

I think the Luck Gods have smiled on me this week.

Who bothers wasting all the time walking up to enemies, exposing oneself to drawing more enemy attention and ranged fire and often get surrounded my a bunch of meanies when you can do that comfortably at almost sight range?

Edit: In that same train of throught - a plain ol' sling in the hands of a strong & dextrous dude beats a barbarian with a two-hander any day of the week, twice on sundays during the early chapters. Pleasantly surprised by their effectiveness when I finally gave them a reasonable chance.

 

Apparently Tymora hates me. I just killed Saablic Tan 130 times, no ring anywhere. It seems the orog chief in the battle tends to have better items than Saablic.

 

Maybe there's some hidden counter in the game that records the fact that you've already had 2 Tymora's Loop drops...

Try to make do with regular 'droppings'. If you're willing to replay the same battle 130 times, then that's some serious repetitive behaviour. You've become addicted to the Loop. You need help, Loop junkie!

 

After a 129 tries, I draw the line. I would have to cheat it in after 129.

 

It is possible that the ring actually came off of the Orog instead of Saablic Tan, I guess. I'm fuzzy on the details of what happened, I just know I got the first one right before starting Act 5.

I've got the game for 6 years and never encountered the loop. Elusive thing.

 

You can enforce get some rings quite easily at the severed hand.
Yquoq (if you were wise enough to leave him alive in chapter1), the iron maiden in the torture room or Tyrannar Brutai Mar's chambers.

 

Well, I haven't been playing for 6 years, but I'm obsessed enough to write a 45 page powergaming guide... I've never encountered it in an honest drop either. And I didn't care to replay battles to acquire it.
Einstein described insanity as 'performing the same action over and over, expecting different results'. Naturally, you're not insane to reload a battle over and over, because you know new items will spawn as long as the map hasn't been entered yet... wait, you're not loading from the battle map itself, are you?? If so, you're not insane, just an idiot!

Exactly. The game randomizes treasure every time it loads the map "for the first time", so it's performing the same action over and over and getting different results.

I got bored after the 130 battles and did what I could with what I got (which wasn't that bad: allgod ring from the orog and greataxe of might +5 from Saablic).
