I will be blunt and start with a rating: 60%. Not more.

The 3d was not as good as Avatars's. Cheapish. Might have to do that it was not an Imax screen, but it just did not have that sharpness Avatar has.

The story was made up at some parts. A few things are correct, but most not. A simple act of blasphemy.

I can go on more things that do not add up but that means spoilers, and those we can discuss later.

I have a discount card but for full price, no way.

I have no intention of going to a theatre to watch this. I grew up watching Clash of the Titans and I really don't think that they can top the original movie. What you're saying doesn't surprise me at all. Anyway I don't see the point of remakes in most cases and even less when it comes to fantastic movies like the original Clash of the Titans.

Saw it the other day, it's the sort of thing you have on in the background while busy elsewhere

I also grew up watching the original. The remake had a distinct lack of showmanship. It was like a flashy but ultimately boring TV ad VS a an eloquent salesman who could probably even sell you his old pair of socks if he wanted to.

    Bubo, yes. :p

Bubo can go fornicate himself / itself. I HATED that stupid <snipping> piece of <snip>

I am going to see the 2d tonight -- I refuse to shell out an extra 5 bucks for a cheesy gimmick.

When I was young, the part I watched over and over* on my Betamax was Andromeda's superlative butt as she came out of the bathing pool before they were gonna sacrifice that beautiful butt to the Kraken. I always thought that what they shoulda done was hang a big effing bag of poison around her neck, so that while she'd die when eaten, the Gods'd never be able to use the Kraken as a weapon again!

The reason the 3-D doesn't look as good as Avatar's is because they did the 3-D after it was already filmed. It was tacked on to draw in more viewers.

I want to see the movie for what it is - a high action popcorn flick.

I saw the original in the theater ... it was bad enough to make me want to pass on this version as well.

I know I said I was gonna do 2d but it turned out to be 3d where I went. But any way you cut it, the film sucked big hairy ones. I wasn't exactly going in there looking for an Academy Award contender for best writing, but it was pure and utter crap. I mean, I'm pretty flexible in terms of things like this, but there ARE limits and this thing was a colossal stinker. Wooden acting, poor writing, crappy continuity, and the 3D gave me a headache. I highly recommend that people take a pass on this one. I give it two thumbs up -- the butts of all the people who made it.

I enjoyed it. It was a bad film, indeed a terrible film, but that didn't bother me.

I grew up watching the original one but honestly, I don't remember much of it. I wasn't expecting much from this new one and watched only the 2D version. The only thing I can say is, I'll probably forget this one faster than I forgot the original one.

60% overall? You are too kind. :toofar:

I just got home from seeing this movie in 3D...and I'd give it a 50% for storyline, 75% for action scenese, .00005% for use of 3D, and -10% for using a misleading title (there are no Titans in this movie...not one...so how exactly are they clashing???)

    Final score = 28% :bad:

Don't waste your time or your money on this. Wait to Netflix it....

When it comes to mythology, there's little room for "correctness" in that there are literally thousands of versions of the Greek myths -- there's not really one cornerstone text that gives us "the authoritative story".

But whatever way you want to set a story up, it has to hold up to internal scrutiny and make freaking sense. It also has to have some teensy, tiny element of verisimilitude, even when dealing with fantasy topics.

This movie had major plot holes, and not the ones that you say "oh, well, whatever, it's a fun action flick" but really wildly stupid ones. It was random, disconnected, and ultimately unsatisfying. And don't get me started on Perseus. The actor may be all right in other films, I can't comment on that, but in this film, he was about as inspiring as last years toilet paper. Seriously. I mean, when Viggo did the Rings trilogy, I had the feeling "yeah, I'd follow this guy into the mouth of hell itself!" Watching this loser go through the motions, I had the feeling "I wouldn't follow this guy to a free whorehouse -- man, this movie is LONG, I wonder if the lineup for popcorn is any shorter now?" When we got out and I realized the movie wasn't much more than 90 minutes, I was seriously shocked. It had felt MUCH longer, let me tell you.

Yeah but they actually took the time at the start to explain what the titans were. And then never mentioned them again.

Sam Worthington was the exact same as he was in Terminator. He does gruff well but doesn't seem to do anything else. I don't get how you can a lead actor who is so unappealing.

    Article on original cut

Interesting article about the changes the studio execs forced on the film, mainly butchering most of the original plot. Probably the biggest point is cutting the rest of the gods from the film, who were noticeably missing despite being seen in one or two scenes. Andromeda should also have been the love interest and the whole thing seems more coherent.

The scenes were shot so hopefully we might see a director's cut but it's not certain. It doesn't look like the CGI was done so adding them in would still cost a lot.
