[IMG] Because if you really want to hurt someone it's usually not them you go for.

    Or, y'know, partial denial.

Because they don't think it through. ;)

But 8 may be right, denial, deniiiiiiiiaallll! As when you're not over somebody and can't act like you're a better person. Basically, going after the new guy is a way to show the ex that she really did a number on you.

Must have been a rough week end. I need a chainmail.

Can we get over all that silly violence talk? I want bunnies like the ones at Easter or in the Holy Grail movie. :hippy:

I went after my ex (not physically, but more of a mental/emotional thing). I knew I could hurt her more by hurting him -- after ten years he still hasn't been promoted to full professor. Of course he probably believes I targeted him, but at least I didn't get him the sleeper sofa for his office or ... the other thing....

For the first time in a longer time I had to write a longer text on MS Word again. Good grief. It's not that Word per se sucks, or that Open Office is so remarkably better. It's that it is WISIWYG. I am now so used to see structured documents in markup that I find the lack of transparency and the :borg: computer wanna help :borg: aspect in WISIWYG programs like Word annoying.

Sil pretty much summed it up.

As for me, I wanted to get revenge on the jackass because by targeting him, I could extract my revenge and make her feel how it feels to get your heart ripped out. By doing so she has also annihilated all the respect I had for her, and when I lose respect for somebody... well, let's just say stuff can happen.

The phone call I got made me simply ecstatic. Saved me the trouble of beating him to a bloody pulp, though I'm sure it would have been a very enjoyable experience.

Which, when you think about it, is really the last thing you should want to do. Best 'revenge' is not needing revenge, basically. Anything else says "You tore my heart out!!! Pooor me!!!" which will just make the ex see you as pathetic. What you want is for her/him to see you as unaffected, or at least well-adjusted enough to get over it and move on, because that way they are rendered irrelevant, and no one wants to be irrelevant.

Believe me, whether they admit it or not, dump-er exes generally take great satisfaction in the notion that they were so awesome as to have had a profound effect on you by dumping you. Some even consider such ruinations a point of personal pride and will brag about it to friends.

Sil got it right. In my case, I unfortunately still have feelings for the ex...and while I wish nothing but ill will on them, I don't actually want her to be physically hurt.

Now him on the other hand...he was dating her while we were separated. He knew there was a chance that things could turn around...but he prevented that. And for that, karma should kill him...or at least drill a hole in his c*ck, so that when he goes pee, it comes out in all different directions!

Bonus points for getting the reference. :)

Damn, guess I was always too nice to the ex's... when I found out they were cheating on me, I dropped them like a sack of hot potatoes and went my merry way. Though, the comment made earlier about not reacting makes them feel irrelevant and no one wants to be irrelevant has to be true. Case in point: One of the ex's who cheated on me accidentally came face to face with me in a local department store a month or so after I kicked his tush to the curb. He was with the girl he cheated on me with. I looked at them, turned around and started walking the other way and they both ran up to me (what idiots) and were bugging me about why I wasn't doing/saying anything to them. I told him that he was beneath my notice, as was the girl since she knew he and I had been engaged when she hooked up with him, and that I didn't care enough to blast either of them. Neither of them seemed to like that response, especially him... they really wanted to get a rise out of me and it didn't work

ION - should I or shouldn't I dye my hair (as I mentioned earlier)? I'm still undecided... though it is a bit freaky to find a couple of pure white and silver strands of hair floating around with the rest... damnit, I'm too young for grey, silver, or white hairs!!

That's a perfect example of how efficient this can be. :thumb:

Go for it! Just make sure you don't do the freaky white/silver strands. It'll probably make you look much older or way too freaky... Not really such a good thing IMO. ;)

I have two grey patches of hair. One is on the right side of my head and consists of ~20 hairs...which sprouted out during our first year of living together in a tiny 1bdr apartment and being broke as all hell. The other patch is on the left side of my head and it's only a few grey hairs...they sprouted during the early divorce stage.

Someone told me that it's no coincidence of where the patches are and when they sprouted. Meh...all I know is really difficult times = grey hairs. :skeptic:

I'm not going to dye my hair to hide them either. Grey hair, along with scars, adds character. :D

I don't plan on doing any freaky white/silver strands... I don't mind them and, in fact, when I get older I hope that my hair is either pure white, pure silver, or perhaps a combo of the two... I just don't want them in my hair right now  As I said in an earlier comment, I'm planning on doing a blue/black where it just looks all shiny, shimmery, pretty black when in regular to low light but when the sun hits it, it just explodes with blue tones but not in a punk/goth sort of way. Surprisingly, the last time I did it, it worked real well with my pale skin without making me look washed out, and made my hazel green/blue eyes show up more (especially when wearing contacts instead of my glasses).

Grey sprouts on guys looks good though (well usually) - makes you look more distinguished. Ladies, on the other hand, don't want character nor do they want to look older than they are... if anything we try to look younger. Especially females such as myself who are still hoping to one day find that special someone - I'm not out to attract someone in their 40's or older just because they think I'm closer to their age due to the white & silver popping out in my own head :D

Ok, that was a mental image I really didn't want... because it went into the MUG region... more specifically male MUG... as in old fart for some reason... now my brain is scorched and I can't get that image out of there... *sob*
