Awesome! This leaves group D open.

As for the current game: Maxi Jazz is the ref! Haha! :p
Slovakia scored. I like the way they celebrate the goal, simply jumping all together with their hands in the air. Maybe the referee can add some dance tunes. "It's not over. I'm not going home"

2 - 2 at the end, in a match both teams could have won. Or lost. One of the best matches so far, IMO.

Man! What a game! Absolutely brilliant! IMO, the best game so far. (Was about time! The quality of most games is rather low.)

Don't know what the referee saw when he decided not to count that USA goal, though. Slovakia got really lucky there, as I saw 3 of their players playing rugby, rather than football. That might be the only taint on the match and it might have huge consequences for the rankings in that group and who will be in the last 16.

    Still, great game to watch.

Question for the English people here (or anyone else who knows the answer):
Who does the commentary on BBC1? One of these guys (the enthusiastic one with the sllghty higher voice) makes watching football on BBC really nice! Better than in my own language.

Not you too, Nuhn... it's SLOVENIA, not Slovakia! Everybody including the Times (you'd think they'd get their facts checked) keeps making that mistake. I'm somewhat disappointed with the final result, but oh well... that goal that didn't count could have made it much worse. I guess we'll just have to take down England. :D

Seems that USA should have won that one 3 - 2

AAAAARRGGH! And it's not the first time I made that mistake, I see! I feel like an ar#e, someone who doesn't really care about geography or the history of other countries. Like an American (Pun intended here, no flaming ;))

[IMG] I watched Germany vs. Serbia and it sucked. I came some 40 minutes late and when I arrived misery had already struck: That prick of a ref had just removed Klose from the game over basically nothing and Serbia had used the resulting confusion to score. After that the German team struggled to reorganise. In the second half, The German team pushed on strongly, with 10 men, and failed to score despite chances while Serbia (successfully) played disruptive, maintaining their lead, with occasional counter attacks. What a rotten match.

On the other hand it merely confirmed my suspicion that the Australian team was, sorry for saying so, a push-over, against whom Germany team could play as they liked. The Serbs are pros; they denied our team to do that by playing sensible tactically, and having luck on their side.

That and then there was that idiotic ref. He spread yellow like there was no tomorrow - all Serbian defence players had yellow at the end of the match? I mean, they're defence after all. Ridiculous. Didn't anybody tell him that football is a fighting game? That doesn't mean fouls are desirable, but means that they are inevitable and that a certain roughness is part of the game - no hard feelings. You get yellow for too much of that.

I watched USA vs Slovenia as well. Good match, that one. But to get back to my previous point - wtf is wrong with the refs today anyway? That US goal the ref didn't give was perfectly fine. What is this? The FIFA trying to shake up the world cup a bit? Bah.

I think I briefly saw a hand on the ball from one of the angles that it was shown... our commentators thought the same. Could have been a false positive during all the commotion though...

Don't get me wrong, I was rooting for Slovenia in that match. It's just that for me that was a goal.

It's no wonder I can never win anything in the World Cup picking competitions. Especially with England probably going to lose to Algeria the way they're playing at the moment. Who know, maybe this means New Zealand will play South Korea in the final!!

I bet on a 2:1 win of NZ.
And North Korea will be third ;)

That was sad. The English premier league shows good football. The English in this cup, however, do not. I hope that changes.

England tonight looked like France yesterday: Uninterested and unmotivated. Unfortunately for the Algerians, they weren't able to punish the English for their lack of fighting spirit.
