Guns are illegal in the UK, and only specially trained officers can carry them, most of our officers are armed with CS and an asp baton, most resistance is taken down through sheer numbers (5 officers to one idiot).
however, like I said, we still have armed officers as criminals dont play by the rules.... I wouldnt bring 5 guys to a gun fight, I'd bring a gun.

Well, since there isn't enough laws in the States yet, let me propose a new one:

§ 236-7a Subsection 6d: Whenever a customer for any kind of a service provider, be it food, the internet or just about anything commercial (hereafter "the customer") throws a tantrum, they shall be detained (and if necessary, jailed) until they can come up with a proof of insanity* signed by at least three (3) independent doctors. Should they fail to produce such a document within thirty (30) days, they shall remain in detainment for as long as it takes for them to realize what went wrong, up to and including lifetime.

    * = or any other conditions that renders the customer unliable for such outbursts, be it OCD, ADHD, Split Personality Disorder or whatever suits your fancy.

Hey, can we make them face a corner in a whitewashed room for that time, too?

Not outrageous. 'Tis just that the notion that perfectly just and honest people exist somewhere is utterly, utterly fanciful. Unless someone happens to be a Jew, of course. Not to mention: the notion that everyone will follow this potential and currently non-existent example is just as fanciful as the previous one, if not more.

Ah, and this thread is not about the oppressive forces of the governments... not even close. :)

I have noticed this tendency, too, but let us not go ad personam :). By the way, if the OP started this thread for laughs, he must be pretty surprised with what it turned into, hehe...

    And double done.

Seriously though - I surprised there wasn't an insanity plea - I think the evidence used to convict her would be the same used in the defense.

Course I have. I don't think we all need to suck his willy though. It was funny, and quality, but we don't want to give Mr Splunge a big head :D.

    Done. ;)

As for the fast food customer, it's an interesting topic. I believe that we all have a responsibility to behave politely and respectfully toward other members of society. In that sense, when you go off and verbally abuse another citizen, especially one who is not in a position to properly defend themselves because they'll lose their jobs if they react as a normal person would, the society will censure you, and it's a totally reasonable thing to do. At the same time, the customer service at some places sucks. It might not merit such a douchebag level response, but still . . .

Usually at the end of reading about something like this I find the statement "alcohol may have been a factor."

    I think she overreacted. Really.

Even though the burger chain deserved this.

I have found myself in the same situation, when trying to order a Cheeseburger at Mcd in the morning. I was told that they only serve breakfast at that time. I replied that in that case I won't buy anything then since McD breakfast is utter crap generally speaking. It got me an empty stare as a response.

    That's system gastronomy for you:

:borg: Eating cheeseburgers is lunch :borg: Lunch is a mid day meal, commonly eaten around noon :borg: It is not noon yet :borg:

Staff isn't allow to deviate from that line. Silly. And that leaves them in an impossible situation when having to deal with people like me or that chicken lusting chick. Even if staff wanted to serve her, they are not allowed to - since it is not the right time of the day. They are usually not even allowed to deviate from their guidelines in order to meet expressed customer packaging preferences. They must wrap it in paper and create garbage. And there is probably a sound business case for this idiocy. And if not that, at least a settled business policy that has to be obeyed.

Most restaurants that I am aware of have different menus at different times of day. The reason is simple: At breakfast time, most people would like to have breakfast. Now obviously, McDonalds had chicken nuggets it the refridgerator in the back, but they certainly weren't cooked yet. If they were going to make them for her, she would have held up the drive-through line for quite some time. I do not think it is unreasonable to only serve certain food at certain times of day.

    And the cheeseburgers aren't?

No. It's just the only thing I like (and ever eat) at McD. They're halfway decent, as far as fast food cheeseburgers go.

And of course they do have different times for different food. I understand that. I don't need to like it though :p With McD the stuff is pre-prepared anyway, and just waiting to be assembled by what they expect to be a human automaton. That's no reasonable excuse for not giving me a cheeseburger at 9am. Obviously, they (not the staff, the management) only do that to piss me off.

Actually, I have a friend who used to work at McDonalds 10 or so years ago, and I asked him yesterday about this. According to him, the registers at McDonald's are push button - you don't enter the price of the item, just the actual item at the register. Each button has a breakfast and lunch item programmed into it. The computer-controlled register is setup so that at 10:30 AM, it switches from the breakfast to the lunch menu. So they literally CANNOT ring up a lunch menu item prior to 10:30.

Hmm. Checking the topic's title, apparently it isn't about my awesomeness. Spoilsport. :p

Nor do I. Although many restaurants serve breakfast all day. Nonetheless, it's more than a bit ridiculous to protest company policy by voilently taking it out on an employee who is only doing his/her job.

So it's about a settled business policy that has to be obeyed. Bah!

Mordea? Where are you when you're needed?! Man, enslaved by computers! Break the chains! Freedom*!

    * which includes me having my cheeseburgers at 9am
