Quick, let's take an isolated incident and claim that it happens to every single person every single day!

Can't walk home in the USA or you'll be tasered to death.

Edit: Okay, unlike you, i'm going to make an effort to make a constructive post. You miss out several important things:

1. On the day, there were several violent protests around London, and the police had no choice but to fight back in certain situations.
2. Ian Tomlinson wasn't even a protestor, he was just on his way home, but in the same way that some protestors are only there to cause trouble, some police are only there for that too.
3. Coroners could actually agree on his cause of death. Personally I think it probably was due to the police cracking him one, but i'm no expert.

If police brutality shocks you this much, you should turn on the news more often.

I was referring to the case we discussed on this forum a couple of months ago, where a woman who had been sleeping on the side of the road had her face busted by a U.K police officer.

 

Was she sleeping in her car or on the pavement?

Why didn't she just set off earlier, or plan to stop somewhere for the night? Why should they let her kip at the side of the road?

I'm not saying it was right to crack her one, but *drumroll* ISOLATED INCIDENT.

Homeless sleep rough in London every night, they don't all walk around with broken noses.

Why shouldn't she? It's a common and acceptable practice for people to pull off the road to powernap/sleep, so that they don't kill anyone out of fatigue.

Seems like you're just searching for any excuse for the cops to harass and search someone.

No, it's representative of the general attitude of law enforcement in police nations such as the U.K and U.S.A.

I guess the cops don't want to dirty themselves patrolling the slums.

 

Where are you from mordea? I've seen homeless people sleeping in Canary Wharf in London and that's not exactly the slums

Of course, I love it when cops crack skulls and abuse their power. Thankyou for pointing that out, it was getting uncomfortable not being able to say it.

I've dealt with cops several times and they've always been polite and professional. Are there bad ones? Yes. But it's certainly not the "general attitude".

Sleeping can be very provocative. When I see someone sleeping, I tense up, certain in the fact that they are no doubt committing multiple felonies and crimes against humanity at that very moment. If I had more courage, I would execute a citizen's arrest, but I'm scared of the ability of a sleeping woman to do me harm.

 

Alright, let's make this simple for you. She was sleeping in her car. Unless you expect me to believe that the cop did a Terminator and punched through the windscreen to crack her one, it's safe to assume that he woke her up, she opened the car door and had some sort of interaction with the cop. You've got his word vs her word on what actually happened, and you can't trust either of them.

 

Why the hell did he wake her up? If more citizens slept, then the crime rate would plummet.

Talk about creating a problem where none existed.

This Ian didn't seem to make a hurry, did he?. With all the noise around and police walking the street, you'd think he'd get out of there a bit quicker if he just wants to get home safely. Walking that slowly right in front of the police might be seen as provocative. I could surely understand that. And then he got a simple push, nothing more. If that's gonna get him killed, I wonder what was in his blood.
