Problem with Aerie... move/command - pathfinding?

Hello folks, i'l try keep this short..basically while playing BG2 SOA (with mods installed) iv'e been encountering a strange problem when trying to issue move commands to one of my party members.

When I select all party members and move them to different location - they all move except Aerie, whom only moves sometimes..otherwise she just stays put or moves halfway then stops. This also happens when I select and try move her individually.

(This is indicated by the Green flashing four quarter ring on the ground disappearing) -Aerie's

..The other character ground animations work fine..


any ideas as to whats going on..? Please help

p.s she has no buffs nor de-buffs or any thing like that on her..

 

Sounds similar to a problem I have where certain characters will intermittently forget where they're going and just stop. It just seems like they get stuck on something and stop moving. Luckily, for me it's mostly limited to the period when you get transformed in the Underdark and pretty much doesn't happen outside of that.

For me, it's not linked to a specific character, but while all may stop from time to time, certain characters will be interupted more frequently than others. Which character has the most interupts will differ from playthrough to playthrough.

I didn't have this before, though, and only got it since installing it on my netbook.

 

yup its as exactly as you said but for me it happens anywhere..3/4 of the time..and only for one character "Aerie..

it wasnt occuring earlier when the game started..just recently..have no idea how to fix it and tbh its getting annoying ..really hinders ones game ((

 

Yeah, it's really annoying and just breaks flow. It usually just makes me rush through the Underdark as quick as possible just so they won't interupt all the time anymore.

Unfortunately, I don't know what causes it and I don't know what a fix would be for this problem.

 

Silly question, are you patched?

 

ye i am and i have other unofficial tweaks and fixes installed too..

 

What mods and tweaks do you have installed?

If any of them affect Aeries' scripts then they could be interfering. "Stutter bugs" are relatively common and generally caused by a portion of the script trying to fire when the conditions are either impossible or unable to complete (For example an inter party dialogue where a conversation doesn't check that another person isn't in the party or have line or sight so they can have a dialogue.)

 

Aerie's just a whiny little twit at times. Let her die off and go get Viconia.

 

For GMotU that might be the case, but I also get the problem (in the Underdark) if I have a multiplayer party. This is with banterpacks and G3 tweak and fix packs installed.

If these stutters due to scripting have a similar effect as you get when you click somewhere that's revealed through the fog of war, but the path to it isn't (i.e. the character tries to get there, but can't). This leads to lagging of the game, which I don't get with the problem we're talking about here. Here the NPC just stops walking, but I don't get a stutter of the game itself. (Hope that makes any sense...)

 

No i understand..i don't lag though..just that Aerie stops moving..wierd i know...and ye pretty much guessed it was one of the mods conflicting. (but cba fixing it..too hasslesome)

I don't know who Viconia is bit i assume its a joinable npc, so i i'l do as you say and drop Aerie eventually..cba dealing with her.

(When i originally got BG2 back in the day i was too much of a hack and slash noob to fully grasp the complexity and awesomeness of DnD turn based rpg's)...thats why im playing the whole lot 8 years late hahaha, plus the high res widescreen mod along with other tweaks are an amazing addition to the game.

I absolutley love it so far...DA doesn't have anything on this..sad but true..

 

What kind of main character do you have (gender, alignment, and class). Does Aerie's personality fit with your gaming style? There are five joinable cleric/druids to have in your party -- three are female (and romancable to male main characters, which basically means a lot of talking to them), two are male (one is romancable to a female main character).

The three females characters are different alignments good, neutral and evil. Although they will romance regardless of alignment (I generally like to be compatible with them -- I also like to have more than one in my party to watch them argue).

 

I wasn't suggesting that it was a mod conflict, actually. I was just saying that I thought it unlikely it was a scripting loop or whatever. A mod conflict seems unlikely too, as I've got only the tweak and fixpacks installed.

Or at least, it seems that way to me. But your problem is a bit different than mine, so maybe it is valid for your problem.

I guess your best bet is to swap Aerie for someone else and hope it doesn't occur again. Hopefully it will improve for Aerie on another playthrough (for me it at least doesn't seem bound to a single character).

 

Henkie, if you're problem is having stuttering issues in the underdark that can occur in some vanilla installs. Usually after the Drow Transformation but has been reported without it as well.

Considering that GMotU had the problem with a single character consistantly it's usually a conflict or error in a particular script that has been modified.

 

I see, didn't know my stutter thing was a rather more common occurrance.
