Has anyone ever tried just a lockpick and a scout and then have tanks/healers trip on traps on purpose?

I'm trying to get a bead on how dangerous they are. Can you bash the lightning traps in the mind flayer map?

yes, you can bash the lightening generators in the mind flayers lair.
Most (all?) traps are not that dangerous.

I'm a little unsure because I always used a mod that tried to up the damage and dangerousness of traps a lot. With the mod I can remember traps in the chult temple and in the severed hand to be dangerous.

Traps in IWD2 are more of a convenience thing than anything else. You could get by without if you wanted. Iirc, one of those power-gaming parties we hear so much about makes that recommendation.

Thanks for the information. It's hard to make a high int/dex skill monkey character and have melee capabilities.

    Ehmm.. no?

Try a Deep Gnome Rogue(1) / Illusionist(x), with an optional extra level in rogue and/or something warriorish, with maxed STR, DEX and INT. Easily my most accomplished tank, damage dealer AND skill monkey ever. :)

Let me guess the stats... It seemed before that making the right stats would be hard:

    S 16
    D 20
    C 14
    Int 18
    Wis 5
    Ch1

^^ right now I need a character planner to know the attributes as I am away from my computer with IWD2. Am i missing something iwth S,D,I maxed the con goes down???

So adding a warrior class to get items....

    Not paladin
    Ranger for DW
    Barb for HP, rage, speed
    Fighter for a feat

What do you think is better^^

Another problem is say you have a Rogue1/Barb1/Illusionist X, OK? I have on my other run through gotten to 16th level iirc. So a deep gnome is already down 3 levels and hits 13th level. So the Illusionist part is only going to be like 11th level.

So the role of such a character is probably: buffer, decoy, archer???

Try tank, main dps and buffer. STR 16 is no decoy. :)
