Yet another question from me. :p

Does anyone know or is there a chart somewhere that tells how many points of Int a Mind Flayer "eats" per turn? It's Int right?

It's -5 INT per successful hit. Stoneskins don't stop the devouring. 5 INT or less means you die whenever you get hit. It's the single most important reason never to lower your INT below 6 when you create a new character.

But how would you avoid that? Even with the best AC they will still hit you from time to time, especially the ultharid.

Stay away. Summons, missle weapons, spells. Sustaining AoEs and then run.... Basically, Don't lead with the low Int character.

Maybe some high level summons, but most summons get stunned too easily and/or hit too easily. And there is only so far you can backpedal for missile weapons. AoEs and spells work only marginally as mind flayers tend to have high magic resistances.

My PCs tend to have at least 11 INT (partly due to RP reasons as well), so they are normally not too vulnerable as far as tanking mind flayers goes.

Best strategy is probably a backstabbing thief with chaotic commands or some such.

I was refering to the low Int character only. Yes, Chaotic Commands on your best damage dealer is the way to go along Hasted Skellies as already suggested.

Mordenkainen sword is a great summon since they cannot be stunned or killed by damage/int drain. Sadly being a 7th level spell it may take a while to get it in sufficient numbers. Skeletons are your next best bet.

+1 for mordenkainen sword and melfs minute meteors. Traps and backstabs work great, too

However, PFMW DOES protect you from int. drain.
