Just thought I'd throw a curious thought out there while I grab a bite to eat. No fear though (I'm immune to it remember). I am not away from the game. I'm eating here at my computer. Once it's ready that is :tobattle:

What class & or race do you prefer?

Currently I'm liking the half-orc blackguard. The half-orc gives the +1 str & con. Sure he gets -2 to Int but who cares on a blackguard. It gets up to 16 so it's as good vs mind flayers as a higher score right. So a half-orc works perfectly for a blackguard. They are immune to level drain and fear plus they get an aura and can poison their weapon. Both of which I'm always forgetting about
Wait! What? A half-orc can't be a blackguard only humans because it's a paladin type kit? Tell that to Dorn's face. Lol. Besides I'm running the tweaks program that allows for any race to be any class. Just not sure why it only allows a gnome to specialize as a illusionist though...

2nd runner is a male gnome dragon disciple. No offense ladies but it has to be a male. Just looks so much better :)

And what do you guys play in solo mode? And HOW do you solo? Lol. I'm having a little trouble with a full party.

    My current party consists of:

    Me = male 1/2-orc blackguard
a self made male dwarf dwarven defender
    Minsc
    Jaheira
    Yoshimo
    Aerie

I'm torn as to who I should ditch to pick up Jan? Either Yoshimo or Aerie. Any thoughts? :help: Yosh frees up the hole for Imy but I'm not fond of Aerie. Truth be told I don't recall using her for very long due to her crying. Should I give Aerie a try for a change & have to decide who to leave behind for Imy when the time comes?

I'm also thinking about switching out Jaheira for Cernd. I use Jaheira all the time so I think it's time for a change. Besides I like the idea of a werewolf. I've used my own before and it was pretty badass once you hit level 13.

I think I'll switch out Minsc for Mazzy or Korgan. Not sure which. Probably Korgan because I've never used him past his quest?

    Thoughts :hmm:

I'm going to go ahead and say that the only reason Dorn is able to break the race restriction on blackguards is because Beamdog wanted to show off the newly added race and class kit. :)
On the other hand, the only reason this restrictions on blackguards exists at all is because it was made a kit of the paladin class, which has the human-only race restriction.
Gnome's being able to multiclass and still specialise as illusionists has always been possible, even before the enhanced edition.
The bg2tweak package might remove limitations on existing class/race combo's, but since options for multiclass mage specialisation other then illusionist for gnomes were never included in the game, there are no restrictions to remove there.
To be able to specialize as any other kind of multiclass mage, you'd need to mod the actual game to make those options available first. :)

Personally with your current party i would ditch yoshimo : (click the spoiler button to see why)
because he will die anyway during the spellhold portion of the game. For the best experience, just take Jan along until just before you go to spellhold - swap him out again for yoshimo, who will die (and be replaced by Imoen) during your travels there, then when you get back to Amn you can swap out Imoen for Jan again."]

I wouldn't switch out Jaheira for Cernd, pretty much because Cernd is awful.
He has terrible stats in both constitution and dexterity, and he doesn't get to wear any armor, meaning he has terrible AC - good luck trying to keep him alive.
Also, the werewolf form he can use is not equivalent to the actual werewolves you meet in game, the kit is seriously bugged/nerfed :
Magic resistance is set at a static value of 20% (instead of adding +20% on top of what you have), you don't get immunity to normal weapons, and werewolf paws only do 1d6 damage (should be 1d12).
As a Greater werewolf he gets no Thac0 benefit(should be set to 6), you don't get the bonus to saves you should get either, elemental resistances locked at 50% and magic resistance at 40% (static again, instead as +% on top of you existing values), he still does not get immunity to normal weapons, no HP regen, and paw attacks only count as +2 and still only do 1d6 damage (instead of the 2d8 slashing damage as a +3 weapon you should be getting.) <- this last one sucks hard especially, later on in the game you will run into mobs that are immune to be hit by a +2 weapon.
You can offset the lack of armor a tiny bit with braces of AC xx, but all in all the werewolf form is not worth it.
This problem still exist in the enhanced edition, as Beamdog decided that actually giving you these bonuses ( that the game's description indicates you should) would make the kit unbalanced. (though i believe they did fix the locked elemental resistances.)
There is a werewolf mod out there that fixes a lot of these things, but at the cost of making the werewolf form almost overpowered. still, if you want to play a werewolf/have cernd along, at least that's an option.

Both Mazzy and Korgan are pretty great to have along, if you bring both of them they even have some fun banters - though without mods you might have to juggle your reputation a bit because of their different alignments. (or just install the mod that makes it so that party members never leave regardless of your reputation.)

Looking at your party, you are missing arcane casting. Jan and Aerie can make up for some of it, but adding in Edwin as well (best mage in the game) would help, Neera is also an option if you don't mind wild surges.
If you do bring Edwin, bringing along Korgan is not a problem since they are both of an evil alignment, you could also ditch Aerie in favor of Viconia (also evil and at least she is a single class cleric.)

With the tweaks pack installed the werewolf druid is drastically changed and is probably the overpowered version your thinking of. It gives:

    STR 21 DEX 20 CON 25
    Base AC: -6
    base saves: 1/1/1/2/1
    MR
is set @ 40 like you said not +40
elemental resistance: is set @ 50 like you said. Not +50
    immunity to mgc wpns
    regen 3hp/SECOND
    #attack: 3
    base paw THAC0: 6
    dmg 2d8
    slashing type dmg
    speed factor: 3
    proficiency type: dagger

When you "use" the shapechange ability to either werewolf or greater werewolf it gives you a "paw" that you can equip or unequip any time you want as often as you want without having to worry about changing too many times per day. With a "paw" equipped you can STILL cast your spells. Not sure what "+#" the "paws" are. It doesn't say but I know I've hurt anything I've hit when I played my main as one.
The shapechanger kit is def over powered. IMO. But I did have fun with it. Usually went as a normal half-elf form though to use the missile weapons until the enemy closes in and then I usually just did the simple switch to my melee weapon. When I knew it was going to be a hard fight I would then be sure to equip a "paw". When you equip a "paw" in your left hand it gives you an extra attack as well. Someone on here, don't remember who (sorry), told me that little trick :)

With all of that in mind it makes Cernd a very useful tool.

As for the gnome, they can't multi-class and be an illusionist. They just have only illusionist or regular mage to choose from if they choose mage to begin with :(

As for a mage of some sort, I can't take Edwin because I forgot to get him before I joined with the vampires. I looked for a previous save but no luck. Guess next time. Yes I forgot about Neera. I used her last time too. How do you forget like that. Lol. I loved her wild surges. Gated in a demon twice throughout the game. So much fun :D

I should def think about Vicky. I've never used her either.

The BG2 version is currently not publicly available, but if you want a small taste (that is to say, the first 10 levels), the BG1 version is available as part of my Ayden Project mod.

The next BG1 version is due for release next month, but I probably won't be releasing the BG2 version anytime soon. It's fun to play and all, just not in a state where I'd be willing to share it yet. :shake:

You should add a reference to it in our download manager -- you can link to your download page.

I see Ayden is basically d&d's equivalent of captain america, his portrait being a reskinned chris evans and all :p
By the way, when i downloaded the mod file, chrome gave me a warning that "the file is not downloaded commonly and could be dangerous" i realize the warning is erroneous, just thought you should know.

Pshaw, he's hand-painted in full HD! But yes, I borrowed his face. Maybe I should ask Chris if he wants to voice it as well. :shake:

Unfortunately, my collection of male model photos is limited and they're all fairly famous in their respective circles (some less reputable than others).

The warning is appropriate. It's also easy to fix: Stop using Chrome. :p

If I cared about what every browser or AV software had to say, I'd never get anywhere.
