This is the fabulous Noctua NH-U12P CPU cooler. It has a quiet 12cm fan, and it generally rocks.

That thing's gigantic! How many people does it take to lift the box? :shake:

The problem is not so much lifting the box but putting it in the case and then cabling it.

The motherboard has a power plug right in the upper left corner, right under the heatsink, that's hard to get at even when the motherboard is still out of the case. As you have to assemble the heatsink on the motherboard before you put the it into the case, and can (with my PSU with fixed cables anyway) then plug in the cables it is difficult to properly plug that cable where it belongs.

When you upgrade your comp with that heatsink, you need to remove the motherboard from the case.

  • This is the fabulous Noctua NH-U12P CPU cooler. It has a quiet 12cm fan, and it generally rocks. On the top of the heatsink you see then endings of the four dual heatpipes. Came in with a splendid package including mounting sets for AMD and Intel 775 CPUs, a screwdriver, NT-H1 thermal paste, cables and all you could wish for. It's very quiet and a very solid. Great cooler, and I highly recommend it.

    More on it here: http://www.noctua.at/pdf/infosheets/noctua_nh_u12p_en.pdf

Thinking of it, it would have probably been more effective to place the Noctua fan on the other side of the heatsink, and I might change that in time.

Behind the fan of the cooler that sucks air through the heatsink, you see one of the Antec's TriCool fans, that blows the air right out of the case. There is another TriCool fan right above the heatsink doing the same thing. In several reviews the Antec's fans have been called noisy. Well, that probably depends on perspective - running them on low I have absolutely satisfactory ventilation and little noise.

Also well visible are the heatsinks on my Apogee RAM sticks. You can also see some of the copper motherboard heatsinks.
