I bought Planescape: Torment (4-disc set) from Amazon for £15, but I had it sent home rather than to where I am staying at the moment, as so far three items have been lost in the post in six months, and I have only been expecting four. Anyways, I am going home on Saturday and shall be picking it up then. Before I install the game, is there anything that I especially need (in the way of patches etc) before installing?

There is a patch available for the 4-disc set (the newer 2 disc version was already patched I think). The patch is available on SP in the Planescape Torment section.

You should also take "no city fog" mod and a unofficial fix-pack. The first mod makes cities like in BG2 ("no fog") and the fix-pack, naturally, makes the gameplay somewhat smoother. ;)

All of which is on SP directly or linked there, so just browse through the stuff listed. But you don't really need anything but the official patch to begin with. Platter's fixpack is nice, but there are no major bugs in Torment after the official patch so it's pretty much up to you whether you want to install an unofficial fixpack the first time through the game.

heh, you know I've played through the official patched version of the 4 disc PS:T many times. Never found anything buggy in it. As for the fixpack, never installed it as I didnt know there was one. Must say I'm curious now.

yes the game runs smooth as molasses on my pen 2 500 system, thx to its preference of performance over graphics. The 2D art looks great but some places had to be made to look ugly for performance enhancing reason. I wish more games do this nowadays, because playing the game is all that matters to me, and having fun. I am really having fun watching the nameless one strut about densely populated city, with nothing but a loin cloth on and behaving like arnold schwarzenegger on steroids. Makes playing the game such a worthwhile experience.

I finally got Planescape this weekend. I have been playing it since yesterday evening, and am currently wandering about the Hive. I went into a Mausoleum, and fought with a Necromancer, in which I used up almost all of my healing items. Now I am looking for zombie #42.

iv heard the sets (other than two) are kind of buggy but after you get them patched id recoment getting the restoration pack from sp. some of its add ins are fairly subtle but its cool. the first thing i noticed is the first conversation with morte is a bit more interesting

By the way, do you know if the conversation between Grace and Dak'kon in which she congratulates him on his skills is in the original game or was it included in some of the sets?
