    Hehehe, I had trouble with him too. Then, I had an idea... he went for my mage, so i used otiluke's resilient sphere on him with my other mage(I have two). What that spell does is that it makes a sphere around the target, and they cannot receive damage, and cannot deal it. So, the main boss was attacking the mage, with no effect, and my other mage sat back and hasted the fighters, and they destroyed the main boss. It might not be the same for you, but the main thing is that he should be preoccupied when you are hitting him. Just try something, I know he is hard.
