The time is near and I'd like to ask you peeps, who have possibly read or looked at the IWD Online Solution what you'd like to see in my next installment for BG2?

Certain sections, information to be covered, player input, layout, etc.

I've gotten tons of feed back for the IWD Online Solution and have updated it as I can to make it the most complete solution available on the net.

Any ideas, even if they're off the wall, are welcomed.

[IMG] Well, I personally think the IWD solution was well done.

What I think could be good, is adding a section for complete beginners to AD&D describing the strategy, party and character creation, weapons, spells, etc.

I don't know, if there is going to be a manual with BG2 as it was with IWD, so if there isn't one, that could help.

    Have a nice day (night)!

[IMG] Actually the BGII manual will be VERY big, last time I heard it'll be more than twice the size of the original manual, so all the details will be there. There'll also be an intro part for the beginners at the start of the game so that everyone can get familiar with the rules and such.
There are two good guides for the beginners that describe strategy and spell strategy here: http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/IWD/index.php
(last two entries in the table).
Those can be applied to any Bioware game.

I only hope that after going through IWD for a 3rd time, and after reading all the posts for a month from IWD, BG, BG2 and Whatnots boards from this site I am not a complete beginner... ;)

    Cheers

    Sylvus,
I agree, the solution is very well done. I would like to see all the people who criticized it try to do one.

Regarding Sylvus' solution, I think it was rather well done, but, since you ask, I do have one nitpicky point.

The hail-hearty-adventurer prose was very inconsistent. Sometimes, it was great for mood, and other times, it got left by the wayside for more direct, "modern," language.

I think it should be all or nothing. Either keep the tone throughout or don't use it at all. And I hope you'll forgive my snobbishness on one last plea, but you might think about having someone familiar with archaic English proof the text. Several gratuitous "thee"s and "thine"s had me wincing.

Don't mean to sound eggheaded or overly critical...only responding in good faith to the question.

Otherwise, thanks for all the hard work.

Well, now for my meager thoughts:

I read through the solution and used some ‘basic know-how’ to downloaded some of the items that said “Go capture your own images thief!” and found it all well done. But I only did this AFTER I finished the game twice and wanted to see if I had missed much. –Which thankfully I did not!

However (yep here it comes….) to give such detailed information away on a website takes away from the gaming experience. –My opinion. Or at the very least it takes away from the gaming experience that the creativeness of Interplay –or any game designers for that matter- would’ve wish upon it’s consumers.***

I suppose whether one is frustrated, at a dead stop in a game or cruising through the game at warp speed – I believe it should happen on one’s own. Or at least without too much guidance. Otherwise what’s to ‘fire’ one’s imagination and creative skills to finish the campaign/game and thereby get that ‘ol warm feeling inside’ of accomplishment . As well as a good “$59 bucks well spent”.

I also realize lots who read this will disagree with me.

Therefore perhaps a ‘Quick overview’ of BG2 in line with the hardcore adventurers/gamers just to set some expectations or goals would work for the next Online Solution (Part I?).

As well as the full ‘Beef’ that has the authors (yours) own gaming experience in the full ‘published to the web for all to enjoy’ for the occasional browser, the reading critic, the newbie/beginner or the gaming desperado who needed the solution: “YESTERDAY!!!”. (Online Solution Part II?)

***note: I know about hint books. But as to date, I’ve never used one and still have enjoyed most games via the fire & ice (formerly known as trial & error) method.
Not that I’m some gaming ‘Big Shot’ but my personality enjoys the game all the more without that kind of assistance (cheats? I think they were once called “Cheat books”?? weren’t they? Can’t recall for sure).

Nevertheless, I’ll return to this board. It’s one of two that I continually visit due to the high measure of credible members and all the hard work of the Web team! -and it shows. –The other is an RPG site by a fellow called Cool Jerk.
