I dont suppose theres any way to see how many charges a wand or charge item has left in BG? Like you can in BG2. I doubt it myself, but thought I'd ask :p .

Also, in BG2 you can sell a wand, then buy it back and have loooads of charges on it. Like 50 or even 100. Does this happen in BG aswell? Or would you just be wasting your money?

    Thanks guys :D

Don't know about those selling/rebuying but there is a way to have a (bad) idea of the number of charges. Go to a shop and look how much a fully charged wand would be worth to sell, when you use some of the charges go back and look at the price again. This should give you some idea of the charges left since when there's only one charge left, the item is almost worthless. So you can see aproximately how much of the original charges are left by looking how much the price have dropped and from there of (if you've counted how much charges where used between the two checks) you can try to aproximate the number of charges that were originally on the object and how much are left.
I know it's cumbersome so I don't use it either but if you're really desperate to know how much charges are left you can try this method. I just use the item until it disappears without counting the charges, much easier. :D

    Hey, thanks Meatdog :)

I am always loathe to use things like the wand of fire, or wand of monster summoning, in case its the last charge :( .

In BG2, I would get a good wand.. use it alot, get it to 1 charge left, then sell and buy it back, hehe 100 charges again ;)

I'll try the selling price technique though :) thx meatdog

    Use the guy in HighHedge!
You get 200 charges on an item from him! :thumb:

You will only need one wand of fireball, one of monster summoning, one of paralyze, one of sleep (that one is cheap I think), one necklace of missles, and the ring of energy. I can't imagine needing over 200 uses for any of those. Charge up your cloak(s) of charming too.

I would, but something there has gone drastically wrong... Whenever I enter, those golen things that are running about turn red on me. I haven't yet found a way to beat 'em, they seem immune to everything!

    A bug maybe?

They are always hostile as long as you haven't spoken to Thalantyr (aka the guy at High Hedge). Once you've talked to him they should turn neutral. They can be damaged but only by +1 weapons or higher IIRC. They have decent magic resistance so casting spells is useless. Just give a good meleer some decent AC and an enchanted weapon and he/she will be able to kill them (2000exp. per piece IIRC). You can kill them since Thalantyr obviously doesn't care what happens to them. (at least he didn't in any of my games)

In my games, it always showed how many chargers were left when I was in game and looked at the quick item slot. The same with the item abilities, you know, whne you click on the backpack-looking button. Or is my game just messed up like that?

I'm not 100% sure but they only cost 3000 gold or so each (Rep = 20 and Charisma = 25 friends spell + one charm clock + helm of Glory) so I wasn't taking any chances.

I think I checked selling them after buying and was offered a better price so I think that means they were charged up. Don't bet the farm on this though.

    @ soubriquet
That means you have modded your games since none of the orginal game and its original patches have that. Maybe there is some option you can turn on to do this but if there is I've never found it.

You can sell charged items to any store in the game and they are fully charged. The only exception to this is Sorcerous Sundries that guy is a true tight waud.

If I remember correctly the number of charges is limited, but the limit is several thousand, so no need to worry that you'll run out of charges... ;)
