Why can't I seem to kill the end boss?!

With my party of 3 npc's (Dwarven fighter, elven mage and gnomisch cleric/thief) I been through Icewind dale and HoW and won every hard fight like the dragon queen in HoW or Mavolon(?) but my party can't seem to beat polequen(?) and I also noticed that there are now 2 demons with him that weren't there without HoW installed. Do you have any tips on beating him?

 

The extra demons are there because your level is much higher than it would have been without Heart of Winter. I don't exactly remember how I won the final battle, but I can remember that it wasn't that difficult. Just remember where the traps are, summon a lot of monsters and start hitting . Almost always work.

 

Concentrate on one enemy at a time. When I beat it with my 6 member party, I couldn't take out Poquelin (now Belifet as a demon) by splitting my fire equally among him and the Iron Golems. It took a couple tries, but in the end I just had to concentrate my whole party on killing one Iron Golem, then the other then finally Belifet. (I don't have HoW at all, so I don't know anything about the other demons, but I guess the same principle might still work...)

 

Pomap is usually the tricky one to kill, but you've managed to do it.

Poquelin, Is "just" plain old violent. Use crystall tower level three to rest before the battle. Then I spent the first rounds running around in poquelin's last outpost while drinking potions and casting spells. I hurried and summon monsters to confuse his guards. I concentrated on his minions first and left him alone. That gave me some space to maneuver. He killed over half my party but before my mages died they had beefed my fighters so much up that the two brave remaining fighters could finish him off.

He is very very tough. So I have no easy solution.

As a rule of thumb scramble any +3 weapon or better to hit him, And don't use offensive spells on him. It won't work.

Try and stay in the perimeter of the room, Those annoying traps kills you faster than anything else. And his fire spells are a royal pain in the butt. Resist fire spells or potions are very good. And remember to haste your men.

These are the obvious non spoiling advice I got from a few reloads against him.

There are other more powerfull tips which I have read later on, but I won't reveal them unless you're still stuck. They kinda spoil the thrill and experience.

I get my 4 fighters to battle the demons and Poquelin, and have my mage run around with the Boots of speed and cast spells. My cleric heals everyone who is run out of healing potins. Now, since you have a 3 character party I would imagine you would have to do some summoning (White Bishop, Black Knight figurines, etc.) and use some seriously damaging spells that are available in HoW. If you got through ToTL you should have that powerful sword against demons. That's about it.

 

Damaging spells? My poquelin is 100% magic resistant...

 

Does the reduce magic resistance spell work against Poquelin?

 

I guess so. But that strategy would overload the poor Elven mage. Summon monsters, haste the group casting lower resistance a few times and attack spells.

Well of course it is better than just standing around.

No, his resistancy wares out. That's how I killed him the first time I played. I had no great weapons so I ran around with my wizards and killed. Although, that was without HoW installed. Maybe it's different with it?

 

Where can you find those figurines? I played through Icewind dale and HoW (I don't have trail) but never found one.
And When I try to use my vexed armor to summon that demon my game crashes every time
