Why drink?

    In BG and IWD series, we can drink different kind of wine in the bar. Is there any purpose for drinking there? or just for fun (to get some gossip)?

    It's the gossip only. I think you can experience a few things if you drink very much, but I've never really bothered trying it.

    Well, you can get drunk if you drink too much. Then you get a nice mug icon on your char and incur some penalties in combat. :D

    Yeah, being drunk gives you morale bonuses, but of course decreases your luck. I've tested this myself, by going up against big groups of enemies and taking lots of damage without running away...
    There's not much point in drinking to hear gossip, as the gossip is often irrelevant or out-dated.

    I seem to remember a game from about 10 years ago where the whole point was to get drunk, on the Atari console system. This seems to be a bonus coming with the Forgotten Realms Titles.

    I was personally very pleased in dicovering that your caracters could drink. Adds a better perspective to the game - Hero who earns money then spends it on drink. Classic
