Icewind Dale/ Heart of Winter Bundle

I bought Icewind Dale a few months back, but didn't know of the existance of Heart of Winter until recently. I found out this past week about the IWD/HoW combo coming out in October. I can purchase HoW from ebay, but no stores around me carry it. Since the combo will be about the same price as getting HoW from ebay, plus the combo also has a soundtrack, I was wondering if anyone thinks buying the combo would be a better purchase? When software companies do stuff like this, do they typically offer a newer version or build of the game, with patches?

 

They don't make new patches for them, and the current patches are no problem downloading anyway.

And if they're the same price, why not go for the combo and get the soundtrack as well?

 

yeah its worh getting the combo, i got it a couple of months back (its been out in the UK for quite some time) and its definately worh a short wait, also although it has no patches on the disc, its already upgraded to the latest version

 

You might take a look and see if that combo comes with Trial of the Luremaster.

It's a 70meg download, if it doesn't. And, it *IS* the latest patch for IwD/HoW, so you would probably want to install it even if you didn't want to play through the area.

I wish they would have made a little 5meg patch file or something. File Planet, is like, evil or something...

If you're refering to the "Arch of the Warrior" bundle, which is what the package is being called here in the states, then yes, that does come with the Trials of the Luremaster already installed. So, you could buy just the expansion, or you can get a nice new package with a soundtrack and the whole game already patched up and ready to play straight out of the box.

Hey, I thought this was coming out the begining of October? I've looked at Best Buy, Circuit City, and all the other stores in between, non of them are carrying it. Did the release date get pushed back or something?

 

I finally got it. Just wish I didn't have top be packing for a cross country move so I can play it more.
From looking at the box and everything, I can't seem to find if Trials of Luremaster is included. It doesn't appear to be. If it is and I download and install it anyways, will it affect the game in any way?

 

Yeah. I bet if it doesn't mention it, it ain't got it.

It's a *patch*. But it's also an expansion. You'd think they would have incorporated the patch, but then they would have mentioned the expansion as well.

This is just another reason why I burn all my patches off to cdrom.

I guess if someone wanted to be resourceful, they could compress it down with .ace, and rename it to .jpg or something, then upload it in .5meg parts to about 5 or 6 free web servers. It would take some work to download, but even with a slow connection (expecially with a slow connection, since the total data per hour would be low) it would work well.

 

I was playing around with the console on IWD. I edited the icewind.ini file. But I cannot pull up the console in the game. I just installed the Trials of Luremaster too.
Any thoughts?

 

You can enable cheat console in IWD config program

 

Yeah.

Debug Mode=1 just turns on the alt keys.

Cheats=1 turns on the console.

ctl-tab opens the console.

The it's something like "getyourcheaton:EnableCheatKeys()".

It's been a while. I miss the Icewind...

 

Go buy the bundle. Its awesome. Plus the soudntrakc is very cool too!
