    Well other than the fact that no Paladin order would likely have a half orc or halfling as a member, nothing really. I don't see uppity paladins associating with a half orc or halfling. That is one thing that does bother me about third edition. A half orc paladin. It's a nice option to be sure, but....I just don't see something like that happening in the D&D world.

    Crawl;

    I see your point, but you have to realize that D&D is trying to reflect our culture, and political correctness is "IN". Think about it. In the original Star Trek, the idea of a Klingon in charge of the ship's weapon systems would have caused Capt.. Kirk a conniption fit. In Next Generation, Werf had that position without question.

    As the D&D world expands, and as the different groups and races come into contact with each other, similar phenomena will occur. The first half-orc paladin would be a legend. Then a few others would straggle in, until it became "normal".

    I can't say that this is "realistic" (heck, we're talking about fantasy, right?). I can say that I can see a logical progression to the place where half-orc paladins and dwarven bards roam the world.

    Well, I don't really agree, but I can see your points. And I was definately not trying to be realistic...just more in line with what the D&D world has been. I can apreciate the progression of things, and I can always apreciate the fun of playing such class/race combos, but...well...it just doesn't seem right for me. I just can't see a half orc as a paladin. *shrugs* Call me crazy.

    Who says an adventuring paladin has to be part of an order.

    also, why is the thought of a holy warrior...so hard to grasp. Your too stuck on the human perception of a paladin. If you've ever read dragon magazine there have been halfing paladins(called defenders) and others as well. They might not be lance carriering knight types. All Races can have holy warriors fighting in the name of their gods(half-orcs have gods too). If I was dming a h-o paladin I would change up his abilities according to his god. Although I think this should be done for all characters with holy powers.
