I remember that by adding a line of code to one of the *.ini file will do the trick.

    Anyone?

It's a very delicate procedure, but I'm highly qualified and can walk you through it.

Step 1: Wait for movie to begin to play.
    Step 2: Hit "Enter/Return."
Step 3. Sit back in awe as you mightily bypassed those pesky movies with a single key stroke.
    Step 4: Get some Cheetos.™

Will that work for ya? ;)

ps - I believe Escape works as well. And spacebar. At least one of the three.

Try the "Spacebar". It's bigger so there's less chance of hitting the wrong key by mistake (for those with big clumsy fingers).

Add this line to the NWN.ini file under display options.

    Disable Intro Movies=1

What the beholder said. (Capt. Tripps)

Or just delete all the movies. It does nothing to the gameplay in BASIC nwn. Dunno about expansions.

While these movies run, the sound is terribly choppy and almost impossible to make out. The sound in the rest of the game is perfect. Why? As far as I know, my sound card should be perfectly compatible. Have anybody else encountered this?

You need a video card with 256 MB VRAM to run the movies properly. Sound card has nothing to do with it.

It could also be that you have Windows 98. In that case the movies can be crappy, but I haven't figured out why it sometimes happened and sometimes didn't. When nwn was first installed, it didn't work but I put safe movies=0. That solved the problem some time. Then even that didn't work. And now everything works just fine. But the issue with sometimes not working with win98 is a known problem. (could be fixed in latest patches but haven't heard it mentioned in the txt files accompaniing the patches)

Yes, I guess Win 98 may be the problem. My video card has 256 MB, but I have an extremely crappy version of ME - which as far as I know is a kind of polished 98. This ME version, which came with the computer, is so horrible that it isn't even possible to do Win updates or Explorer updates with it, so it really sucks. (And I can't throw it out and install XP, because all the #¤%&*# drivers for this computer are included in that ME version, and they are not compatible with normal ME or XP.) GRRR!

    Will peruse the movies=0 option.
