I've beaten both BG 1&2 and the expansions, but I have never played NWN. What is the best route to take from the begining of NWN to the end of the final expansion? (bought platinum edtion). I tend to play either a mage or a fighter, but im a little lost with all the skills and feats. I've never played D&D so I am a bit behind. What do you recommend? Some of the feats look neat, but are they usefull? What about the feats that can only be taken at 1st lvl? Any inputs you have would be most helpfull, especialy since I am not used to starting with a limited number of ability points when creating a char.
    Thanks

I'm not sure if there is a best way to go about. The first time time around I just chose the recommened class which was a pure fighter and didn't really encounter any major troubles in terms of completing the game. I haven't tried all the classes but i would probably choose a paladin if i was to play it again...

In terms of starting feats maybe Toughness, Knockdown, Disarm, Weapon Focus, Lighning Reflexes, Combat Casting are worth considering

Sorry i can't be more specific/helpful but i don't really remember all that much

The game is pretty easy, so even if you make some bad choices, you should still have a decent enough character to play with.

So just go with whatever seems cool, dont be afraid to experiment.

It's easy, I beat the game with a simple vanilla fighter made using the "recommended" options throughout.

If you are looking for actual fun, you should stay away from mage/ranged character types and go for either a paladin or a cleric, and don't be afraid to experiment with feats/skills, it really makes no difference in the gameplay.

Well, one thing first, you will actually need two characters. One to play through the oc, and one to play through the other two campaigns. For the first campaign try some kind of arcanist/druid. That way you have access to all subquests. For SoU (and HotU) you will need a Paladin/Ranger to do all the subquests.

Btw, arcanist is Wizard, Sorcerer or Bard.

For the first character my advice would be to make a pure Druid but with one level in Bard.

Considering feats, take what you want. There are no really bad choices, only "better" choices, so experiment and discover what feats are better for you playing style.

I haven't posted here in a gazzillion years, but I was in a bit of the same situation as the topic-starter. I've by now nearly completed the first campaign (NWN) and I've done it with a Rogue-bard-red dragon disciple wielding a dual bladed sword.

Don't be afraid to experiment :p The game isn't that hard, especially if you take a henchman.

And once you're finished the OC, you should really try out some of the persistant RP worlds that NWN has to offer :p
