I can't choose only one! I dual wield longswords with shortswords or handaxes. I chose longswords since it's my main hand choice.

I love anything but hammers, clubs and flails on my cleric :p . I enjoy using longsword though. Don't want to use a whole feat just to try out bastard swords.

[IMG] I find it to be impossible to answer this poll if you play two or more different characters.
For example I have two characters:
    - Human Fighter/Cleric who uses Katana and a shield.
    - Elf Rogue who uses Rapier (using weapon finesse).

I think rapier is an outstanding choice for an elven rogue, while the answer is less clear for a strength based fighter.
For this reason I will cast my vote for the rapier.

Well, my theory is generally to use whatever weapon is the best I have at the moment. For a while, my guy was wielding a morningstar/sickle combination. :) As such, I usually stay away from the single weapon type only feats like weapon focus, specialization, improved crit, etc.

But when I do play a character built around a particular weapon type, its usually great axes so that's what I voted for. They hit hard and look cool!

    Scythes all they way!
The x4 critical is very lethal and the 1½ times the strength bonus makes it even more lethal.
Lets take an example: An 1 level half-orc fighter with 19 str (+4) who is using a scythe, scores a critical hit. He rolls an eight with the 2d4. 8+6=14 that's easy. Now 14x4 that's 56. 56 damage! That's quite a lot you know.

Bastardswords and morning starts for me. Great weapons - bastardsword as my primary weapon with impr. crit, specialisation, focus - the morningstar as a secondary weapon (blunt and spiked) for everything the b'sword cannot hit. Perfect for me.

But a scythe does a critical only on 20. That's no good. Surely something like a Greatsword is better if you want to get the 1.5x to damage for using a 2H weapon.
The way to take advantage of critical hits is to get the Improved Critical feat and a keen weapon which IMO is why those weapons with a 20 crit aren't such great choices.

My cleric has been dual wielding a scimitar and a longsword since almost the beginning of the game. I have yet to get weapons with different types of damage on top of the physical though. Just started Chapter Three

    Earl Grey,

A 10% (19-20)chance of 4x dmg and a 20% (17-20) chance of 2x damage works out about the same in the long run. And the 4x results are a lot more spectacular. :p

The scythe only suffers because of the increased chance of overkill wasting the damage potential.

I still don't have any cool weapons :(

My ideal is to have a bastard sword & shield combo.

Right now I have a +1 Sword and shield, or a +1 Dire Mace ... depending on my mood.

You should have put, "Whatever falls into my hand when evil is afoot" as an options ;)
