Hi has anyone found a solution to the problem of looping movies.

I have recently started replaying BG and this problem has come up again stopping me from completing the game.

I have the movies installed to try and by pass this but to no avail.

Is is possible to disable them?

I see this has been discussed before but I couldn't find a solution. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried reinstalling the game? or installing the official patches?

In SOA if you type "Disable Movies=1" (note the capitals) in the Program Options part of the 'baldur.ini' file (found in the same location as all the game files on your C drive) it stops the movies playing. As the games use the same engine, this would probably work for BG1 as well.

The game uses a variable to make sure the movie is only played once. I think the reason it loops is because this variable is not set correctly. It is possible to do that manually, though, via the CLUA console. If you tell me what movie it is, I can tell you what variable to set and we will see if it solves the problem.

Well it the movie to the lost city below balders, but i expect it will happen for the temple aswell,

I have reviewed some old posts and it seems that it has happened because i have completed TOTSC before having my final battle with Saveok.

The old posts suggest it will happen with any movie left to play in that game.
I started a new game and have had no problems so far with any movies playing in that game.

I have tried to diable the movies but that hasn't worked either.

    Any more suggestions?

Try saving the game as soon as the movie is over. This should stop it repeating itself.

Sorry tried that, the saved game just starts with the movie and still doesn't stop.

You could try finding all the movies in your BG directory and deleting them. That way they definitely won't play.

Of course, this might crash the game if it tries to play a movie it can't find but seeing as the game is all but unplayable for you anyway, it's probably well worth the risk.

Go here for info on how to activate the CLUA Console if you do not already know.

Then before entering the Undercity, try typing in this line:

    CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("EnteredElderCity","GLOBAL",1)

Learning alot at the moment but still no joy with disabling the movies

Tried the CLUA thing, got the CLUA enabled typed in the command, and we still have movies.

I have a slight problem in that the " marks do not appear on my keyboard where the should but found some alternate ones elsewhere.

Does anyone have any further suggestions.

Reinstall the game. I had the same problem and no one at BioWare could figure out the case. After the reinstall, I loaded the savegame and it worked fine.

I have only just reinstalled the game, it was uninstalled for sometime.

However if I just installed BG without TOTSC would it work ok or since the saved games have been converted to TOTSC would it have problems with it.

Definitely... you need to install both.
