[IMG] Previously I have only ever used the Barbarian or the Monk as my henchmen in the original campaign.

This time, I am using Tomi the Rogue. Is there any way to actually control the actions you'd like a rogue to perform, like stealthily scouting ahead or setting traps? All he seems to do is unlock stuff, disarm traps (but only if I walk perilously close to them), and get beaten up trying to use his bow when the enemy is right in his face.

If the answer is that he is more or less uncontrollable and liable to do stupid things all the time, is it better to have your PC as the rogue and get a fighter henchman (who requires less controlling - "just go hit that zombie")?

I also find some of Tomis habits rather annoying and have been tempted to run a rogue myself for just that reason. The worst is the missile weapons in melee. I have had to reload more than a few times because Tomi got himself killed. There are some AI downloads available if you are willing to trust them.

    Right here at sorcerors place:

If you do decide to give it a go I would be interested in knowing how well it worked.

The stock Tomi is pretty useless for sneaking, and so is the Panther. I played a Ranger, and yet I still had to leave Tomi and my Panther behind if I wanted to sneak around unseen becaue although they both have sneaking ability, I never could figure out how to get them to use it. I don't think it was possible.

Hmm, what a pain. What's the point of having half a rogue? So I should either make my PC a rogue or ditch the idea of having a rogue at all. Is it feasible to complete the OC with no rogue classes present?

I would imagine so, but I always take a thief with me to open locks and disarm traps, so I wouldn't know for sure.

I just can't take setting traps off on purpose, and bashing is so crude. Don't like it :)

Seeing as the expansions made my old game unloadable, I have started again, but this time my PC is the Rogue (maybe multiclassing to Fighter later).

IIRC, you can right click on Tomi or the panther and use the circle thing to control them better. If Tomi dies, doesn't he just go to the same place you do if you die?

You can right click on him, but he has no command for 'scout ahead' or 'run away from those big zombies'.
