HotU is actually designed as an continuation of the OC, not SoU. For the record, my cleric was nowhere near level 20 after beating the OC, and I did nearly all of the minor quests.

I didn't think that the OC is as bad as everyone makes it out to be. I actually rather enjoyed it. Yes, there are some parts that are repetitive, but there are also some parts which are creative and enjoyable.

I will say that the OC never managed to grab me the way that Baldur's Gate did, but that may be because I did not have the time to devote to the game that I did with the years older BG.

Um.... Rastor.... They do refer to you as the one who "saved them from undrentide" and they do refer to the "hero of neverwinter" as a mysterious entity who is definitely not you. How does this make it a continuation of the OC?

As for levels, I'm pretty sure it will make little or no difference if you are as high as 18 at the beginning. The game is meant to scale for different challange ratings after all.

I just installed NWN Platinum a couple of weeks ago and I'm almost done with Chapter 1 with a Ranger . . . Coming off of the BG series, I don't have huge expectations for the story but the 3rd edition rules are an interesting change of pace. Kinda wish they'd be more generous with the gold and exp, though.

More generous with gold and experience? Oh, don't you worry; I think I ended the OC with my Ranger at level 20 and I know I had over 700,000 gp, maybe as much as 900,000.
