Depends if we're going all powergamey or not. Arcane Archer may not be as powerful as pure Wizard but he doesn't have to rest as often to replenish his archery skills so is therefore less frustrating to play then a pure wizard. This is an important consideration in a game where resting is made annoyingly difficult.

    Paladin(1)/Monk(1)/Sorcerer(X).

He wears the Robes of the Dark Moon with Mage Armor and Stoneskin on top, and melees with the Uthgardt Ceremonial Blade (after softening up the opposition with a Fireball or three).

He needs the Bard levels so that he can cast Arcane Spells which is a requirement of the AA class.

One on one, I'd imagine that a pure wizard would probably win, it would be closer without pre-buffing.

Oh, I see. Anyhow, I mentioned wizard because is seems to me that a pure class wizard is not the most fearsome character you might meet on these servers (cleric and druid should be more powerful, I would think, not to mention some of the red dragon disciple/sorcerer builds). So, I was just trying to figure out how you make an AA character "PHEARED" :p

Not that they wouldn't be fun to play, of course :)

The 2 bard levels are for the +1 Ab that will top off the requirement for AA, as opposed to the 3 wizard levels it would take, its more powergamey coz you get more AA levels.

Also, you should take 2 levels of paladin on your monk/pally/sorc because paladin's get charisma bonus to saving throws at level 2.

    Elf
    Cleric(11?)/rogue(23/monk(6)

16 starting wis rest dex (all good builds have at least 10-12 intelligence for skill dumping)

11 levels in cleric for t3h uber buffz, take Travel/trickery domains, trickery for the bonus to rogue skillz and improved invis, travel for free haste. Have him dual wield handaxes/daggers/ something with good base crit range (daggers are 19-20 base, keen and improved crit i believe you ccan get it down to like.. 13-20, dont quote me though)

Have fun pwning with your 1337 sneaks, buffs that make gods cry, and AC from monk/speed from monk/free improved knockdown.

Its weakness (as with all clerics) is that the buffs dont' last long :(

    Halfling
RAnger(21)Rogue(19) ((or add 3-6 monk for wisdom AC/improved knockdown/free imp evasion for epic dodge))
    Throwing axes
Favored enemies: HUman, halforc, elves, dwarves, halfings

Pretty straightforward, go dex build, get the feat BANE OF ENEMIES for extra 2d6 damage, and the 19 rogue will own with the rogue feats (imp evasion, defensive roll, slippery mind, EPIC DODGE)

You'll have like 100+ hide/ms from ranger spells, get +1 damage/AB against favored enemies (who are player races :D ) and have 1337 sneak, try to get 15 rogue pre-epic so that you can spend feats in improved sneak.

Also, your shield + wisdom AC + dex build + AC on your cloak + natural AC on your ammy + dodge AC on your boots will make you a force to be reckoned with ^^

    Tin can!!
(another alignment constriction, but aren't all good builds restricted some way? ;) )
    Dwarf
    Barbarian(27)/Dwarven Defender(10)Rogue(3 ish)
    21 con
epic feats: stock up on Dev crit, epic damage reduction (x) and epic toughness (x) !!!
go BArbarian/dwarven defender, maybe just 10 DD for damage reduction, rest barbarian for the rage and terrifying rage (and more damage reduction), take one rogue first level for the skills, then the last 2 to dump tumble giving you +8 AC.

Insane hp + insane damage reduction + terrifying rage + defensive stance = lol, can't hurt me :p

    kay...
    HUman
DRuid(5)/shifter(16?)/monk(19) utilizing dragonshape or kobold commando

Kobold commandos get free Hide in plain sight like shadowdancer... so thats fun, get 25 str with him and use dev crit. Your speed from monk/AC from wisdom will be through the roof.

Dragonshape.... YOU'RE A FREAKING DRAGON! NOT ONLY THAT, YOU'RE A DRAGON WITH 19 MONK LEVELS!! DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW MUCH AC/SPEED THAT IS!?

    or

    Druid/shifter/weaponmaster (in scythe)

Uses the Risen Lord shape, that scary undead thing who's immune to sneaks, crits, has damage reduction out the face, has an aura of fear with a ridiculous save, and uses a mean scythe. DRuid and shifter to get the shape, weaponmaster to make those scythe crits really sting.

    Another one is

    Halfling
    Rogue(27)Bard(3)Palemaster(10)

With Maxed out Dex, a shield, Epic dodge.... You're looking at 80 Some Armor class with only +5 AC items an stuff... Not only that, but IF they can hit you, you are immune to crits and Palemaster gives you awesome damage reduction, as well as even more AC.

Actually, I'm pretty sure they get the bonus at level one.

For the epic Kobold Commando shape you'll want Shifter level 17. Wouldn't want to miss that 25 dex, now do we?

I suppose it's druid 5/shifter 17/monk 18. No real difference between 18 and 19 monk. Empty body for 50% concealment at lvl18 however, is definitely worth it.

    Great builds though :thumb:

That might be a good idea for my next build. I'm totally loving my current Druid/Shifter/Monk, but this build is focusssing more on the Druid/Shifter, with a few Monk levels to capitalise on the AC bonus from the wisdom, with some added bonuses from Tumble and Discipline as class skills and some free feats.

A curiosity, or even error, if you will:
You can't have both that high a strength and Dragonshape. Simply not enough stat points to go around.

Although very interesting, focusing your Shifter on a single shape seems to defeat the purpose of being a Shifter, i.e. to have many shapes for all occassions.

Also the Bard levels allow discipline.

A 0 discipline Arcane archer is a joke. Even a level 1 rogue with a whip can disarm him and watch itt squirm like a little girl.

    ANYWAY!!

I HAVE FOUND IT!! T3H UBER BUILD!

    Paladin(20)Bard(10)RDD(10)

    Starting STats
    STR 16
    dex 8
    Con 10
    Int 10
    Wis 14
    Cha 16

    Put all points into str.

    go like this...

18 paladin to start (for MAX AB possible)
Then 1 bard (dump tumble for AC and Spellcraft and perform so you don't get dispelled n stuff)
    Then 10 RDD
    Then 9 Bard!!

    Ending STats (fully buffed!)

    AB 64
    AC 69
    50% conceal
appx 37 fort save, 25 reflex and 25 will

Give this guy a scimitar and Dev crit... and nothing will be able to dodge your might!

Agreed with Disciplined archers. Simply cant do without. Epic skill focus: discipline would come handy, but that's pushing it already.

Very decent build, though i'm not a specialist in melee hacker&slashers.

You probably mean first 20 levels in paladin?

Also, you know you'll have XP penalty your whole Epic career, starting right at lvl21.

I'm not sure what you mean with "dumping Spellcraft and perform so you dont get dispelled n stuff"
Neither spellcraft nor perform helps against dispelling. And a major problem it is, besides the relatively short caster lvl10 buffs. Even a simple Dispel magic, and most of your augmentations are gone. Unfortunately, no Spell Mantles for bards. Your song remains however.

Spellcraft is the opposing check when someone tries to dispell you.

And you don't use Bard buffs, you use those 20 levels in paladin for

    (all extended)
    Prayer-- +1 AB
    Bless-- +1 AB
    Divine Favor-- +5 AB
Bard song-- +2 AB (when you reach level 10 methinks)
    ETC

I use him on my pvp server.... everyone gets KD'd from my UBER AB :D

And there is NO XP penalty if you go human.

Paladin is the highest class and is ignored
Prestige Classes (RDD) are ignored when doing multiclass penalty
BArd has no class competeing with it.

Spellcraft is useful if you want to counterspell, and to recognize what spells others cast (and it does give you some extra save bonuses against spells). It does not have anything to do with dispell (at least according to the manual).

Also, bard song only gets reasonably powerful when you get to around level 14, so it seems to me that your 10 levels of bard are not so very useful. I would rather pick something else (like rogue), however, I guess you need this class for the RDD levels.

Yeah, bard song is maxed out at level 16... Maybe i should take more RDD for epic feats an stuff instead of all those extra bard... or maybe more paladin so my buffs last even longer... oh well :D My hax AB and AC are enough to dev crit anyone ^_^

Just had another very fun moment with my Druid/Monk/Shifter. Was fighting the Valsharess and finding it very difficult to hit her, as the AB of this build is not very good, even with a few buffs. Not even the Risen Lord shape could stand up long to her, so I started looking around my other options.

The Epic Minotaur shape had been the first, not so successful option. Even though it has great strength to add to it's AB rating, it still couldn't get in many hits. Risen Lord was the obvious second choice, as the AB rating is about the same, but with more defensive abilities. Lasted longer, but still got smoked pretty fast. Drow and the newly evolved Epic Drider shape didn't offer anything more. Seeing that melee just couldn't cut it against her, I switched to the Red Wyrmling. 6d10 fire breath is nothing to scoff at. Still, it had great difficulty to do any damage, and was still getting hit hard (low AC and such).

Reloading again, I tried one shape who had helped me overcome some difficult situtations before with the 'save or else' option. Basilisk it was! First gaze: 1+30 vs DC = 18
    O_o
    Critical failure ftw!

I love my shifter. He brings so much variety into melee fighting. It's still the plain old simple point & click stuff, but with a lot more options to play with if a fight becomes difficult, other than the plain old 'shall I take a potion or not?' of most melee builds.

    I'm considering Paladin/RDD (yeah, as few sorc levels as possible), Paladin/Ranger and Paladin/Ranger/HS. Maybe Paladin/Rogue and/or Paladin/Rogue/HS.
