PC and Henchman Question

    Right. I played and completed NwN quite a while ago. It was alright like. Thought it was time I bought an expansion and played the thing again.

    So I get Shadows of Undrentide and away I go. Now, this is a question I could never bother asking in the first trek through. But, say I make a wizard. I obviously can only have the one henchman. A wizard needs muscle behind him. So I figure I use a fighter henchman. But how will I detect/disarm traps and unlock traps? I hear myself ask. So I go for a thief. Then it hits me that a thief/wizard combo will last about as long as a chocolate souflé at a fast after party. So, in conclusion, I need a thief, I need a fighter, I wouldn't mind beind a wizard, but can only take myself and one henchman. Is there a mod or something that allows you to have more than one henchman?

    Suggestions and help on a postcard please.

    Hordes of the Underdark lets you have two.

    Maybe you should try that female Dwarf Thief/Cleric henchperson (I forget her name). As I recall I only had one place where she was a problem and didn't hold her own. But then again I played a Ranger and not a Wizard.

    [​IMG] You don't need a thief character - all you need is a pixie familiar. A pixie can handle any traps and locked doors/chests you'll come across. I played a sorcerer with a pixie familiar and Xanos (taking barbarian levels only) and it worked out good. It'd be even better if Xanos were a pure barbarian (or if you could have that paladin girl join), but blame the SoU designers for that oversight.

    Actually, I run as a monk, and hired the healer to patch me up when I get hurt. Evasion has saved me at least once (and should get better as I advance).

    There are two wizard spells that give them thief abilities. Knock is a 2nd level mage spell that unlocks all doors and chests within a certain radius. Find Traps is a 3rd level spell that finds and disarms all traps within a certain radius.

    And you dont need a tank. Summon an animal and let a thief do sneak attacks... I am soloing with a thief, no one can resist.

    Yeah I agree Mischa should've been a joinable character. I'd like to have a paladin NPC, as I never play one.

    To be honest, the last time I went through, I never even used a thief, a mage, or a cleric. I had me, an out and out tank and Daelan, another out and out tank.

    Any traps, I just walke into and let them do their stuff. At later levels, it's nothing. And locks, me and Daelan just bashed open.

    I want to do it 'properly' this time though.
