***Warning may contain spoilers on the items availible***

Mine is a Red Dragon Disiple / Paladin. I know not much of a role-playing character but she sure is fun! My Henchman is Deekin(of course) and whenever I get her, Linu.

His stats are.(First number is base, second is w/ items.)
    Stregth: 22,22
    Dexterity: 13,18
    Constitution: 18,19
    Wisdom: 14,14
    Intelligence: 13,13
    Charisma: 16,16

    AC: 40

He uses the Intelligent sword that you have to get from the dead kings. Rest of his gear is plus AC and stats.

His classes are Sorcerer/Paladin/DragonDisiple with the levels being 1//5/10 respectivly. i will add Paladin levels until I reach epic, then I will decide whether to do Paladin or Dragon. If I can cast level 2 spells by the time I am 9 Paladin, then I will probaly advance my Dragon class. Dunno though.

Everyone who has the game post your characters. Great fun for all.

Specialising in greatswords - Whirlwind and Great Cleave means nothing stands in my way for long. Immunity to Fire at RDD lvl10 has been a lifesaver though as I don't have great hit points or AC. Also due to different items I am immune to poison/disease/level and ability drain/mind affecting stuff and I've got freedom. It's incredible the amount of cool items you can find in the first few dungeons.

It's great being able to dye your armour/robes/clothing too. I'm hoping to find some red metal dye at some point.

My character now wields a Greatsword +8 with Keen, SR+20, Ability Drain Str (DC24), Daze (DC?), Haste and a couple of other things I cant remember. I really wish I'd waited before enchanting though as I could have done all the stuff on a +8 great sword and added even more enchantments.

How can you be using Aribeth? She is kinda a piddly character, least compared to the two drow. Valen can stand up to almost anything once you get a nice Full plate mail on him, and the other chick does some nice sneak attack damage, and actually uses her spells in a way that help me.

    Damn guys!
spoiled my game... Aribeth as an NPC? didnt know that :(

    My char...
    Himo Heian
A halfling adventurer of quite some reknown. Started as a simple halfling boy in a village near Baldur's gate. As all other boys he sneaked around, doing silly things,... A while later he started to learn off an old lone druid living in a nearby woods. Just as he learned the basics, his mentor died. Himo couldnt live in the same place anymore, so he started fulfiling his long-time dream... traveling. His quick wits and careful threading served him well, so he succesfuly and non too adventorous traveled to Daggerdale. From there he started his adventuring career. After completing some minor tasks for the local authority - Lord Morn, he got involved in a demon banishing... or at least tried to. Suffice to say, his long-time adventuring party The Unwanted was founded there. Other members were, Sulak, Moriart Huntsakker, Borgir Silverbeard and Cob. Cob got killed shortly thereafter by an unlucky blow of orc-wielding greataxe. After some other succesful adventures, Moriart died as well. Kobolds use nasty poison - which he unfortunately found out when it was too late. Since then Borgir dissapeared, no one knows where. So now there are only Sulak and Himo of The Unwanted left. They are recruiting members though. Great were their adventures thereafter. One more glorious than other. Eventualy Sulak decided to settle down in Dagger Springs with his partner - Alyssa (the first recruit of The Unwanted). After that Himo went out to adventure on his own. The Unwanted still exist and Himo is the along with Sulak the highest ranking member. But not commander - there were others more suited for the task.
Now Himo comes to the City of Splendors - Waterdeep, in the middle of a great crisis. The offered reward of 100.000 gold pieces would suit him well, so he began his perhaps most dangerous and glorious adventure ever - wandering into the Underdark itself, through the fabled dangerous ever-changing chazm of the mad wizard Halaster.

    Wow! :)

Haha, I accidentally saw "Aribeth" also.

BTW, what was the ending for the lady in NWN original? I only remembered that I had a fight with her.

Gah sorry about spoiling it, I didn't do it on purpose :(

I think Nasher executed her after she turned herself in.

    @Fade

    Actually I've never tried Valen.

I removed the name, hope the others will too.

I am trying to decide what to use to play through again. I had enough fun the first time to convice me to play a second.

    @Master of Nuhn

How can you character be level 12? You start out at 15 so I did't think you could get below that.

Awesome combatant, but gets wrecked the moment a decent spellcaster comes along. :(

All I can say is Sorc 1 / RDD 10 / Paladin x is an absolutely incredible build. You are immune to fire so you don't have to worry about 33% of the damaging spells that will head you way. You also have nice saving throws due to the Paladins charisma bonus. I think mine with items were 33/25/28. If making this I would recommend pretty even stats, like you would for a pure paladin. Depending on what feats you want you may need 13 Dex and Int. I choose to get Whirlwind, so I used the RDD Int. bonus to help me get the require 13 Int. Here are a couple random advantages as I think of them.

You have an absolutely incredible strength. Due to this strength you will have a great to hit bonus, so you hit everything. If you take the Improved Critical feat, and have a keen weapon, you will be getting critical hits up the wha-zoo.

With a sword and shield, you will have a great AC, mine ended up being 51 at the end of the game, could of been higher, but I didn't buy the high-end +ac rings at the end of the game.

You should have a decent constitution, which combined with items, luckey rolls and the toughness feat your hitpoints will be through the roof. I think at the end of the game mine were well above 400, around 440 or so.

Just a great character overall, but buyer be warned, it is very powerful, and unless you turn up the difficulty some battles might be easy. :D

    @ Shura

I tend to disagree - sort of. I've created the same build with a Human, and he's probably the best melee character I've ever had. I boosted his focuses into Greataxe, and with his improved criticals and Greater Cleave, most fights don't last too long. Enemy spellcasters are a bit of a problem, but within the first level of Undermountain alone I picked up several items that make me immune to the worst effects (stun, level drain, etc.). Even without them, I had little problem against the enemy spellcasters outside the very first area.

Fighter 8 / Weapon Master 9 (and climbing)
1d12 +8 damage per hit, very high to-hit, with a critical threat range of 16-20 x4

    He owns.

Shura, not sure where you are in the game so be warned, there are spoilers about.

    *************************************************

In the underdark you can add spell resistance to you weapon. Also in the undermountain there is a shield that adds to your spell resistance, and there is one with more AC later on, either late underdark or early hell. There are also several items that give you elemental resistance.

Here are several things I did for my character.

    1) I used a shield. There are some great 1-hand weapons in this game, so good, that I don't see an advantage to using 2-handed weapons. With a shield you can get some much needed AC, and also other benifits, such as elemetal and spell resistance. If AC isn't a problem for you, then this will let you use different rings, instead of a +AC one.

    2) Get your deflection AC from your cloak rather than your rings. There is a cloak of fortitude +5 in the underdark. This will give you +5 to AC and saving throws.

    3) If you still find yourself low on AC use an amulet of natural armour. I believe the get up to +6 in this game

    4) If you have the Cloak of fortitude and an amulet of natural armour, then use your rings in other ways. There are several ones throughout the game that provide resistance to different types of elemental attacks.

    5) Finally make sure you have AS MANY HP as possible. I can not stress this enough. You should be able to get some nice +con boots. Use them. You can get your haste in other ways, one being that Deekin can cast it on you. You can also get it from your weapon. By the end of the game you should get close to 400 hp. High HP combined with some spell resistance and some elemental resistance should make most spell casters relatively easy.

    I hope that helps a bit. :D

BTW... with that cloak of fortitude i belive what you really mean is a Cloak of Fortification (deflection AC and universal saving throws).

Also there are amulets of Will +6 in the underdark. That should help quite a bit too.

    @ Shura

Don't know if I'm much of an expert (as I just barely cracked level 2), but I'll try.

The biggest boon to me so far has been the items I've found and bought. A helmet that casts permenant freedom (immunity to stun, entangle, web) and immunity to all mind-effecting spells, a Scarab of Greater Health (immunity to all forms of poison and disease, regen, etc.), Gloves of Ogre Power (STR is now 20), some cool belt that gives immunities, etc. So basically I'm immune to all but the damaging spells, and with my 200 hp I can soak up most of that by the time I get to the caster. I attack 3 times per round, and with Deekin and Sharwin both supporting me with bows, most casters get at least some of their spells disrupted anyway. I've also found a cool +3 Great Axe that causes blindness with each hit, which helps with the spell disruption. Most spell casters are going down in 2 or 3 hits, tops.

I have a pretty good ac of 26 due to Full Plate +3 and various rings. I was under the impression from the NWN site's images that a weapon master had to fight unencumbered ala the Kensai for his special abilities to work, but that's not the case. Tank him up all you want, unless you're using things like Weapon Finess, etc.

If somebody else has better tips, please share. Hope that helps, Shura.

[IMG] Thanks for all the advice. I pretty much suck at this game, unlike BG2.

Still, I'm enjoying it greatly. The story is better by far than the original campaign and it has a much grander feel to it.

I might even say it rivals *gasp* PS:T in atmosphere at least.

    /me saves that statement.

I dunno if I agree with that or not since I have never played it. I will have to steal it from a friend, since it isn't in stores anymore. Oh well, back on topic.

I am trying out the Fighter/Weapon Master. So far just started the game and it hasn't been to bad, I am having to buy alot more heal potions though, and I wish my axe had Vampiric Regeneration on it. Fun none-the-less though.

    **Update**

Right now I am a Dwarven Fighter10/Weapon Master 8 using the Dwarven Waraxe. I highly doubt I will take the weapon master past level 10, as there are no good bonuses past 7. I may just level up in my fighter class so I can get more feats.

I am liking using the Dwarven Waraxe as a weapon. It does 1d10 damage and does a critical hit on a 20. With Improved Critical, and the weapon master's feats, I get a critical from 17-20 doing 4x damage. Plus my axe has the vorpal ability on it, so sometimes I will just outright kill enemies if they fail there save.(Fort DC 18 I thinks.)

Here's the character I'm planning to build when I'll received HOTU.

    human
    Fighter/6
    weapon master/x

    str: 16
    dex: 14
    con: 12
    int: 14
    wis: 10
    cha: 10

I'll probably start him from nwn, go trough soh (even if it will be easy) then go for hotu

I'll use long sword, shield, heavy armor (full plate)

and boost strengh and perhaps constitution when I'll level up

    any suggestions???
