    1. I'm running a P3 866mhz 256 Megs O' RAM and a Geoforce 2 I believe. NWN will run on my comp like...
    a. A dream
    b. Every other recent release ie. slow but tolerable
    c. Chug a lug lug!
    d. Other...
    Pick one.

    2. Alright, I have a recurring obsession with druids, and recently I have been re-afflicted. I have question about the lovable tree huggers. Is shape changing/polymorph the farce it was in BG, or does it actually kill stuff? And furthermore, how do druids stack up against every other pure class? If I will suck, thats fine, but I'd like to know beforehand.

I will not shun your question.

To answer your first question I would have to answer Other, It should run at an acceptable rate.

I will, however, shun your second.

I have never played as a Druid and never plan to. I hate trees, nature, the outdoors, and sparsely venture out in reality so why should I in virtual fantasy?

To answer your first question, either B or C, depending on your patience. It oftentimes has slowing on my P4 2.4 Ghz with 2048 MB RAM. It isn't so bad that I cannot tolerate it however. You should be alright.

The second one, druids tend to be very similar to the other classes. In my opinion (in SP mode at least) they are a bit underpowered. I've never played one in MP, so I don't know if they're better for parties or not.

Only the first question will my answer be.
For better equipment you have than me.
But it is letter d. my answer shall be.

NWN is running ok in my system, but in my case, the lower capability of my PC had made me install NWN without sound.

    Chug a lug a lug.

I was planing on upgrading my P2 to P3 status beacuse that's what it states as reccomended on the box.

I tried it out on the upgraded P4 in the office first. The graphics sound card is oldish and the performance was chugging.

We bought a brand new P4 (not for my gaming bug, I should add) at the weekend. It's Pa 2.2 Ghz, 364 MB, Ge Force 4MX 420, and even that came up with the message during configuration, that the CPU was too slow.

Game play was adequate when playing on zoom out, jerky when playing close in, and loading up time's were long.

My Quest shun is, what speed of machine do you need to play this thing smoothly?????????????

Are they actually on the market yet?????????

    fyernine,
maybe the speed of the processor is not your problem. try downloading the latest driver for your video card. that would make it run 3D images better. I'm just using a P3-800MHz but it's running ok, and my video card is just TNT2 Riva M64. my sound card is just the on-board and 128MB RAM.

[IMG] GeForce's 4 MX are hardly any better than 2 MX, FYI. You need to look for versions without MX in the title for really powerful GeForces.

Nior, you definitely have more patience than I. I was running the game on P3 1GHz, TNT2 M64, and 256MB and I couldn't stand it. Had to go out and buy a new Radeon. Of course, now I have driver problems ... *sigh*

Anyways, to answer the initial question, it definitely won't be a dream but it should run OK. It will really depend on the resolution and graphics quality you choose.

I will stay away from your first question and try to answer your second, as I don't really know too much about configerations and NWN. However, I have played a druid. OK, I haven't played a full druid as of yet. Playing druid with no multi class would be somewhat underpowered, based on weapon and armor choices available to the class. I am currently working on making a (once I reach level 20...a long time in the future) level 5 Barbarian/15 Druid. Druids do have their drawbacks, but they can be excellent fighters when paired with other classes.

With that config, I still get 4 attacks per round, though I do lose 4 BaB, which I don't consider giving up much. I will have 8th level spells, among which are some great ones for a fighting character, like barskin, stoneskin and greater stoneskin, regeneration, and premonition. Plus I get other nice ones, like all the healing spells, dispells, call lighting, flamestike, hammer of the gods, ice store, slay living, spell resistence, summoning, creeping doom, fire storm, harm, finger of death, etc, etc, etc. You get the idea I'm sure ;) The animal companions are very powerful when buffed as well, and make much better alies than henchmen. Now what else do you get you may ask? Freedom of movement, +2 to saves against fear, poison immunity, and yes, shapechange. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten shapechange as of yet, so I don't know exactly how good it is. I do know I'm a pretty good fighter even without using heavy armor (you can take a heavy armor feat if you wan to, which is a good choice probably for SP). I can heal, which isn't exactly necessary in the SP I know, but it's a nice touch. And I've got an array of good protection and other spells at my disposal. So yeah, I'd say a druid could even be a pretty good class solo, and great when mixed with a few levels of barbarian (which I think makes pretty good sense rp wise). Are their better classes? Sure, but it's a good one, and besides, in the Single Player campaign, there really is no underpowered class. Every character is overpowered.

I have a Duron 1GHz w/256 megs RAM and a GeForce 4 MX. I can run NWN on 1024x768 resolution with full sound and the graphics set to "fast" at a perfectly acceptable rate. When I had a GeForce 2 MX it ran a bit slower, so I think it will run fine on your machine but you'll get slowdown during large battles. Of course, I played BG2 on a K6-200 with 32 megs of RAM and *NO* 3D acceleration and thought it acceptable, so maybe I'm just a patient person.

As far as druids go, I dunno. I play a Paladin. I can never stick with anything else. :good:
