[IMG] Yeah, all those ancient cultures fed off each other and 'the church' gobbled 'em all up wholesale.

A very interesting - if pretty dated - book is 'The Two Babylons' by the Rev A Hislop.
It is actually a diatribe against catholicism, and is a bit venomous sometimes, but his information on where various beliefs came from is fascinating and largely accurate. It was banned to catholics at one time; maybe still is.

You should be able to get it via your local library. Maybe even on-line; extracts, anyway.

I would really like a copy of my own! :(

Funny now you mention trinity...the original religion has divided into 3 main religions.
It makes me REALLY angry how much animosity there are among those 3 religions.
It really makes me wan't to shout: "ITS THE SAME F... GOD YOU IDIOTS!"
How the HELL can people view others as heathens when the worship the SAME GOD?!!!!
Christianity was created to oppose all the petty additions to the church.
    ...And now it's even WORSE!
I guess it's in the nature of the human race to misuse every gift they receive.
Religion was supposed to unite people and give them hope, but instead it has been used as YET another weapon.

[IMG] Yeah, that's about the size of it. Trouble is, most religions get taken over by greedy, power and money-hungry people at some stage in their development, and it ruins the whole idea.
Of course, the same is true of today's 'religions', as well - the Corporations, the Scientific Developers, the World Bank, etc.....
