    How do I do it?

I noticed that yesterday, the boards seemed to be off. Today, back on.

I like on. I want more on. I want to donate to make it on. Can I do it?

    [IMG] Why, definitely! :)

And we are in rather a bit of a jam right now, and it looks like we'll have to start running our own banners because the ones our host provided aren't brining any money in.

    So every penny helps...

I'll contact you via the mail you have listed here on the boards profile. (If you're using a different one, let me know.)

zheng89120: Taluntain is the founder and owner of this whole site. And a moderator is also the one who controls our behaviour, delete posts, close threads etc.

Shadow_Godess: Banners which we have to click so he can get money :D.

I can't believe you can't make enough sales off of Amazon to keep this site running! If it means that much I'll make my next purchase from there:)

[IMG] Shadow_Goddess, who's talking about banners? We don't have any banners on SP that would bring me any money just by clicking them.

sorvo, if everyone thinks like you you can imagine I don't make nearly enough.

How much do you think the books I sell bring in? I get 5% from them (rarely more). Count yourself how many purchases there would have to be to bring any money in. Especially since all the books I'm selling are paperbacks that go for a couple of bucks. Gee, 5% of 5 bucks makes a whole of 25 cents. Yea, I'm getting FILTHY rich on that!

Anyway, sorry for that outburst, but it pisses me off when people who do buy from Amazon and could easily help just be clicking on our Amazon banner at http://www.sorcerers.net/Books/index.php and buying through it (if they don't find the books they want on SP) don't do it because they think I'm making enough money as it is. I wish. I've been running SP for nothing for 2 and a half years before I started with the Amazon affiliation.

Thanks to all of you who are interested in donating and/or buying things from Amazon through the links on SP. You really do help me out a lot. Besides contacting those who expressed their wish to donate some money, I will also set up a PayPal page of my own where you'll be able to drop a buck or two if you feel like it. (Currently I'll refer all donators to my host's PayPal donation page as soon as he puts it up, since I need to clear up that bill before moving on.)

I apologize for my assumption! I realize your not doing this to make a living, but I thought from all the people, that are on this site, from all around the world, it would be enough:confused:I'm wrong again, nothing new:)

[IMG] Tal ... I like the idea of making our own banners for the page.

I stayed up last night and made one out of construction paper. In big Gold Macaroni Letters I wrote,

"Sorcerer's Place is like summer camp ... Tons of Fun but PLEASE SEND CASH!"

    [IMG] LOL!

Well you see sorvo, only about 5-10% of people who visit SP also use or message boards. So there are many, many more who never contribute a dime, only leech the files and resources without giving anything back. Those make probably 95% of our visitors. If they were all like the majority of people who actually visit these boards, I would never need to worry about anything.
    Unfortunately, it isn't so...

Not to mention the fact that most of the gamers are a) young (no credit card to pay even if they wanted to) b) broke (even if they wanted to buy through Amazon, they can't) or c) could contribute, but wouldn't, as long as everything's free... See the problem here?

The only gamers who actually buy stuff through Amazon here (or are willing to donate), are older gamers. I'm not saying there are no exceptions, but they are in minority.

Mathetais, I don't know where did this banner idea come from... But I don't need any such banners, hehe. Let me worry about advertising. ;)

Well being a older gamer(30+)I vow to make my next gaming purchase from here! Anyone have any suggestions? I already have the entire BG series.

Well sorvo, I would say buy something that you can't find in stores. The Silver Box Collection of games would be a suggestion. I remember looking for that in stores for months to no avail, so I just ordered from Amazon through a link here at SP. I got the collection less than a week later.

Now my problem is this; I can't find disk one of PS:T since I moved, and none of the stores around me carry it anymore. I have one more place to look, but I doubt it's up North at my folks house, so I might just have to order it from Amazon through a link here a SP.

    Hey Tal!

I think that the donation thing is a great idea. As a matter of fact I think that you may want to add a link that people can click on to contribute to your site. I've only made 1 purchase on amazon, and it was through this site. I think that you are doing a fantastic job here! I'm sure that there are more than a few people who would be interested in giving a small donation.

Have you ever considered selling merch through this site directly?

    THE_ELEVEN!

I just got a copy of PS:Torment from WalMart! It is in the discount software (the jewl box only rack) section for sale bundeled with Soulbringer. It was only $10....but now I'm felling guilty that I didn't buy it on Amazon through the SP link. Plese tell me where you got the name The_eleven from!

Thanks Llandon. 10 bucks, that's sweet. I tried Best Buy and Comp USA but no luck. Walmart is way to far from where i live so that's out of the question. I'll just buy it through SP.

the_eleven: as in 'Five men writing with fingers of gold'

it comes from an early Grateful Dead tune called The Eleven.

What is the Silver Box Collection the_eleven? I browsed amazon and didn't find it. I'm also thinking about PS:T because then I can ask questions on this site:)

[IMG] OK, to all of you who expressed the desire to donate, thank you.

I will be setting up a PayPal account of my own on SP in a day or two and I'll remind you all again that that is where you can easily donate. The delay is simply because I cannot set up a PayPal account myself since it isn't available in Slovenia... So I have to get some reliable soul to do it for me. But never fear, this is going to be done in a day or two, as I said.

Regarding the Forgotten Realms: Silver Archives - it was sold out some time ago and removed from the pages of SP. Sorry about that...

Regarding buying anything else at Amazon and giving some credit to SP:
    http://www.sorcerers.net/ubb/Forum7/HTML/001155.html

and http://www.sorcerers.net/Books/index.php have all the details. In short - by clicking on any of the three buttons for the appropriate Amazon on that page, you will open a new window with the front page of the corresponding Amazon. The difference will be only that everything you buy will now give me a 5% comission. Or you could always go with the url trimming option above, if you feel confident about doing it.

(Of course, this goes for the items that aren't listed on SP... For those that are, just browse the books & games sections on SP.)
