My disc 2 for BG is damaged, can anyone help me out?

Is it a specific file that's damaged?

 

Im sure if you sent the game back they will provide you with a new copy, this is the only 'legit' solution I can think of...

 

If your disc has become unreadible by your CD-ROM, you could try to make a copy of it (if your burner does read it). Someone I know tried this with a music CD and it worked well.
Another solution would be to make a copy of the disc from someone else (with their permission of course).
A third solution would be to make an image from a working cd from someone else, or to download one (I think this is legal, because you own the cd!). Then you could burn it on a cd (use Nero) or read the image-file with a program (forgot the name).

If the disc is scratched, you can try polishing it with toothpaste or Brasso. Getting the disc professionaly resurfaced is also an option; most music stores have a resurfacing machine on-hand.

 

Disc is damaged beyond repair, you can see daylight through the scratches!

If you scratch the disc, Bioware has no blame in that! They don't offer waranty for phisycal damage to the disc. Don't get the illusion that you can do whatever with your discs and the company that produces the disc will actually help you out whatever you've done. As long as you paid for the disc, why would they care? I'm sorry to inform you, but the world you're living in isn't such a happy place

NE1 got any ideas on where I can get an image from, I seem to be the only one in my circle of friends who still has the game

 

@Kelvon: Tell me about it... although once upon a time I dop remember a certain company that did replace a damaged disk of mine, although I think PSX games are an exception...

 

Back in the '80s and early '90s, it was a common practice that if you sent back a damaged disk, they company would replace it for a small fee, usually arround $5-$10 (including S&H). Electronic Arts, which used to own Interplay, was one such company that did this. They replaced a copy of Skyfox that was bent at an unatural angle.

Of course, this was in the era of 5.25" floppy disks, and I was using an Apple II computer at the time. I don't know if the practice is still valid, as the few times in the last 10 years I've had to replace a disk, I've managed to get a copy from somebody else, or had a backup copy when the thing wasn't copy protected.. Wheather the is legal or not I don't know, but I don't really care, since IMHO I did own a legitimate copy that I should have been able to make a backup of legally, but was prevented by copy protection, which is illegal to circumvent courtasy of the DMCA.
