Party?? What party?!?

Someone! Anyone! I need help! STAT!

I'm only a few steps away from finishing BG. Here I stand at the gates to the Ducale Palace, invitation in hand, and I just can't get in! Everytime I try it tells me I must gather my party before venturing forth, yet I don't have a party! I seem to have a bit of a penchant for getting my party members killed, so they're all gone. When I open up the Reform Party screen, there's no one there. I'm at a loss, how the heck do I get in?!

 

Could be a bug, have you downloaded the latest patch?

 

If you have dead chars in your party you may still need to remove them, if not try inviting somone new into your party and taking them along to the meeting... Were any of your party ever petrified?

 

As far as I can see, I have indeed downloaded the latest patch and installed it, but if I could get a name of the latest one, I could check and know for sure. All dead characters have been removed and none of them were ever petrified (although I was once, that stunk! Stoopid basilisks). As far as inviting anyone else, where in that section of the city can I find someone to join? Keep in mind I'm despised at the moment (I didn't murder anyone!) and have to stay invisible just to avoid the Flaming Fist.

If you like you can go n e where to find somone, dont worry about the flaming fist, you can just run away from them, if this doesnt work I suggest trying to load an older file...

 

There is an NPC just outside the main gates of Baldurs Gate that colud be added to your party. There is also one just outside the Flaming Fist compound.

 

And that hobbit thief in the Hall of Wonders too...

 

Well, hopefully you didn't download a patch for The Baldur's Gate Original Saga, as the game is already fully patched.

I hear people get a lot of problems if they try to do that =o

 

Welp, I scored the NPC just outside the main gates, have had to listen to him prattle on about how stupid everyone is, went back to the palace gates, and no dice. Still being told I have to get my party together... gaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh!!!

 

Did you try reloading an older save file and attempting to enter?

 

Hey there!

Now, that is a weird problem... If wenchwogg's suggestion does not work, or if you don't have any other savegame, try this:

1. Export your character, save, and exit the game.

2. Copy your saved game into the mpsave folder (the one for multiplayer games) and run BG. Start a multiplayer session and load that savegame.

3. Delete your character in the players selection screen, and any other characters that may appear. Import your character and start the game.

4. Try entering the palace now. If you succeed, save and exit the game. Copy the savegame from the mpsave folder, to the normal save folder. Run the game again and enjoy the last part.

It may work. Then again, it may not.

 

Welp, I tried all the suggestions (except wenchwogg's because I don't have another savegame) to no avail. I even went so far as to outfit a full party in the multiplayer game, save it, copy it to the normal save folder, start 'er up, and even with a full compliment was told I had to gather my party...

I think *hic* I might *sniff* have to start a whole new game...

Is there no justice for us n00bs? Is there no Great God of n00bs that looks down and says "There there, wee n00bie, fear not, here's the what what."? Well, apart from Colthrun, of course. You, my friend, are wicked! And I still think you should marry me... hehe...

ANYWAY, I'm off to begin anew... dammit...

 

It is karma that has aflicted your game. I would suggest that on your next run you try and keep your party alive. Unless you're evil and wants to walk on the bodies of your peers in order to clutch the golden ring....

 

@spookylittlegirl, are you still playing with Drizzt? If so, have you tried replacing him for another character in the multiplayer screen, then try to enter the Palace?

So I found out what the problem was...

The first time around, poor ol' Drizzt was absolutely despised by the Flaming Fist, so every time he saw one, they attacked him. As a result, when he got to the gate to the Duchal Palace, he was attacked, had to defend himself, and in essence, rocked them all... even the guard that he was supposed to show his invitation to..........

So yeah, I'm finally in with the new game... I think I might change my name from spookylittlegirl to thickasabrick....
