[IMG] Hi. I just started playing BG a few days ago. I have a few queries. Firstly, how do I up my character stats. I read in Gamespot that the stats are almost fixed once you roll them during character creation. But I've read a few walkthroughs that had their character's rating at 20, even very early in the game(Chapter 1). How did they get it up. Can you increase when you level up?

Also, when I leveled up Jaheira(NPC in my party) to lvl 2, I couldn't really do any tweaking at all with any of her stats/abilities. I could only accept the level up. She's a fighter/druid multiclass character(if my memory serves) but her weapon skills didn't improve at all after levelling up. Only her THACO and HP changed. Also, in her bio it said she was a figter level 2 and druid level 2. I though you could only level up one class at a time. Can someone pls explain.

Is there anyway I can look at monster stats when I fighting them? How do I check how much HP they have left or what enchants are on them?

    I'll appreciate any answers. Thanks.

OK - On creation of your character, on any one roll, you can increase a stat at the expense of another, and once decided on, they will essentially remain that way forever unless increased or decreased through magical means. In BG1 there are several magic tomes that will permanently increase a stat by 1, and there are many magical ways (potions, spells etc.) that can increase stats temporarily. Other than that, there are editing tools to hack your character in just about any way you want to, but I personally don't recommend that.

A characters class will increase in level whenever the XP for that class exceeds the threshold for that class. The experience tables are in the manual. Fighters don't get additional proficiencies every level; I think it's every 3 levels. IIRC the Fighter and Druid experience tables are the same for the first few levels, so Jaheira will level up in both Fighter and Druid at the same time for a while.

I don't remember if you can do this in BG1, but in IWD and BG2 if you hold your cursor over the monster for a second, it will give you an indication of it's health (barely wounded, almost dead etc.)

No, BG1 has no health indicator for monsters of any kind. The only rule in BG1: it's dead when it drops. ;)

Possibly, but I don't think I've encountered it yet.
What good would it do you anyway... Unless you plan to pause after each hit and calculate how much more damage you have to do.
    Not exactly entertaining.
