Is it just me, or are all these new bands starting to sound exactly alike? For example, Stained, Puddle of Mud, Default, and a few other bands sound the same to me: Constipated, and annoying!

Another thing, so far this Millennium there has been more "one hit wonders" bands than ever before. And the sad thing is that the radio stations, at least around here, play these songs over and over every day! I can expect to hear ‘The Red’, and ‘Send the Pain Below’ by Chevele at least 3 times a day on each of the 3 rock stations. Whatever happened to the good bands like Powerman 5000, The Offspring, Pantera, and other great bands? Whey does it seem like they never play anything from the good bands anymore?

The thing I hate most about the radio stations around here is that they will overplay one or two songs from a new album until no one likes them, and then the station will stop playing those songs and destroy 2 other songs from the album. For example, before Linkin Park released their new album I heard ‘Faint’, and ‘Somewhere I Belong’ so many times I couldn’t stand to listen to them...and that was before the album even hit the shelves!

Anyway, do you think all these new bands suck as much as I do? Also, do you think the radio stations in your area overplay the "overrated" songs too much? And finally, do you think that radio stations should limit the amount of times they can play stuff from a new album before it’s released? :rolling:

The band Atomic Kitten (that's up with the stupid name??) is really bad. They're trying to be punk and failing. They're a black mark on the name of Liverpool.

Well, no one's asking you to listen to those stations. If you're dissatisfied with the quality of the music on a certain station, well, that's what CDs are for.

Or, if you're cheap ( ;) ), you can always opt to listen to something different. Blues, classical, heck, maybe even pop. Explore a bit.

Damn kids and their ping, pin, pop music, not proper music, not like in my day. And their dancing, they hardly move at all, not like in my day. We used to spin on our heads, now that was proper dancing.

We never used to play it so loud either, and we always respected our elders. There was none of this pill popping neither. We smoked our drugs like men, we didn't pop them like hippies.

You try to tell them but they don't understand. Wait I'll show you, I bought this phonographic recording back in 1920, you won't be able to keep your feet still I tell you.

(Everyone runs away while Bluin's back is turned)

I generally don't listen to radio, as if there is something I want to listen to I'll buy the album. But I personally don't have a problem with the bands you mentioned. I can sympathise with the destroying of the songs.

I gave up on corporate radio a couple years ago. In America, 90% of radio stations are owned by two, count em, TWO media companies. Clear Channel Communications and (can't remember other name...think it is a Viacom company). In most small markets, such as my lovely Allentown, the different radio stations are located IN THE SAME ROOM. This is not conducive to originality with their playlists.

College radio my friend. It is the last bastion of old school radio. Radio where DJ's pick songs instead of some suit in the glass spire a thousand miles away. Radio where they are allowed to play songs that wont be enjoyed by at least 25% of the male demographic ages 15-30.

    College radio rules my friend.

I can't stand all those rubbish half-witted 'bands' from pop Idol, Fame Academy and all that stuff. They don't even have a word awful enough to describe them.

Ah, the evily-communist radio conspiracy. It all began as some "jerk" called marketing-expert was called to gain more listeners for the radio-station. They made a lot of tests and came to the conclusion, that it's better to play music people don't care to listen to but wouldn't bring them on the idea to change the channel. Then they tested a play-list on a group of people and recommended it to the radio-station. The radio-station implemented it and forbade the DJ's to ever play something else. Obviously, the other stations couldn't stay behind and did the same. So, the settled all on the same playlist with 400 crap-songs which are played and played over again. And the worst thing, success gave them right. And that's all the three bih stations I got where I live. All of them. I even turned to the voice of Amercia to get relieve, but they axed it, so I'am stuck.

I think the other is Simmons Media. Both are pure products of the devil himself, and should be split into hundreds of smaller, local companys. :rolling:

Most of ours are like that too, but they do play some good stuff from time to time. But no Rammstein or Metallica. That sucks.

I don't face right now this problem. In Athens there is a station that plays rock, beat, blues you name it from cool good music his name Rock FM and it rocks  .But don't forget that radio stations are enterprises and they need money, and money comes from ads, the higher the popularity of the station the more expensive the time is bought by an ad. So although you might find it strange but a disturbingly increasing number of people across the world listen to that failures and guess what, they like them. Unfortunately they are the majority now so most radio stations will play these garbages in order to attract more audience therefore more money. It is sad :(

I think MTV is partly to blame. Just remember, MTV is to music what KFC is to chicken.

I hardly ever listen to the radio. I can't find a decent metal station. I hate the crap my country produces (mostly dance and trance: Ian Van Dahl, Milk Inc. , Lasgo,...)
I usually turn on some internet radio ;)
