You guys gotta help me out here...

A mate just launched a riddle at me, and I cant get it! (admittantly only thought baout it for about 10 seconds).

"What goes up but doesn't come down"

Its probably a piss easy one. But I'll be buggered if I can think of the answer.

    Help a guy in need.

The only thing like this I've heard is "What goes up a chimney down but can't go down a chimney up"
and the answer to that is an umbrella

    :shake: Nice one Splunge.

Quick question: what does pwned stand for?

Well, I had no idea what pwned meant, so I did a Google search (mainly because I wanted to know if jesper898 was insulting me :D )

A corruption of the word "Owned." This originated in an online game called Warcraft, where a map designer misspelled "owned." When the computer beat a player, it was supposed to say, so-and-so "has been owned."
Instead, it said, so-and-so "has been pwned."
It basically means "to own" or to be dominated by an opponent or situation, especially by some god-like or computer-like force.
"Man, I rock at my job, but I still got a bad evaluation. I was pwned."
    OR
"That team totally pwned us." OR "PWNED j00r @$$ B17CH!"

    From here.

I guess I was being complimented. I especially like being a "god-like force".

actually... when using the theory that the universe is gonna collapse on itself and shrink again, all time reverses... this don't mean we'll be resurrected, but our age will drop... i guess it must be something like "light beams when you switch a torch on and shine it upwards".

    :D

Aswell as CS... You *see* ( :D ) alot of wicked language while playing online. Many words come from misspellings, but I think most of those kind of words came out of lazyness.

Why people started writing with numbers however eludes me.
I´d like to know why whomever invented it started spelling the word "elite" "1337"...
I do understand the meaning, or whatev, with it though.
    1 represents L, 3=E and 7=T.
So it´s a shortage really, LEET, but why the numbers?

Hehe, I think that is a somewhat "modern" way of writing words. It's not so common as the regular letters, and therefore they're using it to say that they're something "not-so-common" too. It's almost like the punk-attitude "**** the System".

    I think it's silly anyways :)
