I've been playing BGII for a few years now, and i have finally got my hands on BG.

Now i have installed it, grumbled over the impossibly low resolution :bang: and played it till Chapter 3 without a single party banter, other than Jaheira yipping about going to Nashkel. Is it supposed to be without banter at all? Or is this a bug? :hmm:

There's banter, just not quite as much. It helps if you get NPC's that hate each other. None of them will attack any of them because of their differences (unlike BGII) but the arguing and insults can be funny if you pick the right people.

I'm sure I've had Khalid and Jaheira go hostile on Monty and Xzar... the poor evildoers got squished.

There's a banters mod out, but that requires Tutu installed.

Well, my party is Myself, Minsc, Dynaheir, Jaheira, Kivan and Imoen. Guess they fit together to well then? But still, there will be at least a teenyweeny bit banter i hope?

Ooh, I just remembered! If you CLUAConsole:EnableCheatKeys(), hitting Ctrl+I will initiate a minor party banter between two NPC's. There's not a lot of them, so use it sparingly.

Tutu would fix your low resolution problem, plus it would enable you to use kits and dual wielding.
I tried the banter mod for Tutu, some banters were a bit odd (Imoen raving about pink) but most of them were excellent!
Anyway Imoen is getting on my nerves: "you're a queer fellow"...

Hmm.. Just finished the game finally, and to my dissapointment there was only 1 banter. 1 lousy banter, and that was a "two click" one, Dynaheir complained about Boo, Minsc retorts, and thats it.
Other than that the other NPC's haven't said squat, and i managed to cycle through quite a few of them throughout it, at least 10 of them were with my troupe for quite a while.

Guess that's why this game is loaded with NPC's, they have absolutely no personality at all besides their alignment...

Banter in BG1 is not great, but you find some with the right combination of NPCs, and waiting a long time, unless you use CTRL+I.

    - Montaron and Xzar have differences with Khalid and Jaheira, and this will result on a fight.
    - Edwin, Minsc and Dynaheir have some hate talk.
    - Coran tries to hit on Safanna, and Safanna continiously rejects him.
    - Eldoth and Garrick fight for Skie.
    - Kivan and Viconia despise each other.
    - The same between Yeslick and Kagain.
    - I've heard that Edwin and Alora have also some talk.
    - I don't know about Tiax and Quayle, but I reckon that those two may have a couple of funny lines.
