[IMG] What did you think of it? I really liked it, especially the fact that it remained true to the book.

[IMG] I liked it. My one complaint would be it seemed too rushed at times. I enjoyed when they took some time out to just show simple things. For instance, at Christmas when they show Harry letting Hedwig fly around outside in the snow.

Also Professor Snape is the man! Just wanted to let ya'll know that. :)

[IMG] I saw with my kid siblings. They loved but I thought that it really was a childrens movie. I have heard alot of talk about the books being for all ages but with a plot that transparent and characters that are so onesided you can tell what they are going to do before they do. I have strong doubts that ill read the books. But aside from the imho lame story it was a good movie. The enviroments was awesome and they really did a good job. Even though I didnt really liked so was it the best fantasy movie ever. Its just sad that LotR are going to be a so much better movie than HP even if it shows that LotR dont live up to the expactations so will the superior plot make it a much better movie.

SPOILER - THIS IS THE WHOLE MOVIE:

    Something BAD happens (oh no!),
Harrys friends know what to do!
Harry's friends save the day (yay! insert triumphant music!)
    Harry smiles (awwww cute!)

    I give it a conservative 1 out of 10.

[IMG] Ok I have to say I have not read the book but I thought the movie was great!! The effects were realistic, the plot was riviting, and it was good for all ages.

The only thing was it was a little on the long side for most kids to sit through.

  7. I read all of the Harry Potter books. I haven't read them for almost... 1..2... about 8-9 months. Suprisingly, with other books stuffed in my memory, Harry Potter is still fresh in my memory. I really want to see the movie which I haven't seen yet, and to see it if it actually follows the tiny plots in the big big plot.

[IMG] I liked it a lot. I wished they made Harry out to be more powerful, but other than that I have no complaints.

I really liked the game they played, that was pretty cool.

I have to admit, I never read the books either. :(

    Satiana,
It's just Harry's first year at Hogwarts, he can't be too powerful. But don't worry there is some good stuff in store with the next books/movies. :p

    Oh, and Snape rocks!

(I also want to see that kid that played Draco Malfoy in ten years....)

I never reead the books. Cause of the hype etc, I had no good expectations about the movie. Maybe that's why I was suprised that the movie wasn't bad at all, I indeed liked it very much, it was a good movie and I might even gonna read the books.

I advice all to see this movie, also when think Harry Potter sucks. But do watch it before LoTR, else Harry Potter will totally stand in the shade of the LoTR movie. ;)

    I haven't read the books.

    I won't see the movie.

I don't care for fuss over it all. Mass hysteria is something I always avoid.

Extremist, so you will also dislike LoTR after 19 December this year???

I stay out of the hype and still ike LoTR.

I had the same intentions as you with Harry Potter, and I found out that just ignoring the hype, the movie is good.

[IMG] I wasn't going to see the movie because it seemed like something of a childrens movie, but my girlfriend dragged me along and I really liked it. Almost ashamed to say it, but the movie is really good

Maybe it's just becasue you have bad expectations that the movie is good for with bad expecations, it's hard to get the movie more worse then you already thought it would be :)

[IMG] I have not seen the show, though I have read most of the first book (Amazingly, I could put it down very easily), and it sounds to me like it's not actually that bad.

Although I would fit into the Nature and Creativity Intelligence Extremists Corporation (NCIEC, nicknamed 'Neckiack') I would say that mass media DOES have a wondrous way of making children's books all the more magical for children. I emphasize the point that both the writer, director, book, movie, action figures, posters, kleenex prints, paperclips, and hairsprays branded with the Harry Potter logo are pretty exciting for people nowadays.

I've heard from many members of Neckiack that the show was Excellent and Prosporous and worth swooning over.

    I don't doubt it.

[IMG] There's show a about to manifest itself? (I think Xaelifer was implying that it's an inevitable outcome, along with everything else Harry) I'm Australian, so i usually hear about the events over there sometime next year.
Any marks for the movie out of 5 (2 being average)? My cousin gives it "a flashy and well produced, but unremarkable 3", any responses? Should i take her advice (not bother, since i haven't read the books) or is she just dead wrong?

The movie is funny and has good graphics and it even has a good clue. So I rate the movie as good, especially for a fantasy movie, for there are not many good Fantasy-movies... and the fact that this is a Fantasy-movie (and I like fantasy) makes the movie a lot better.
