I was reading another post and I've noticed that the smart comments were getting out of hand. I can't say that I haven't been a party of . Matter of fact, I think I started some of it. I try to refrain from some of this in the future. This site is dedicated to answering questions for people who get stuck and I sincerely apoligize for straying from that course. For those who have been guilty of this on a regular basis should probably aplogize to the mediators also. I'll start it here.

 

I know what Garret Jax means, though; I myself am guilty of a number of unnecessarily arsey posts which I also am sorry for. While the internet forum is a convenient and efficient way of accessing the knowledge of the enthusiasts of a given topic, irony, inference and implicit meaning can be obsured or lost very easily amongst the lines of plain text. Smilies actually help with this (despite being sometimes lambasted as some stupid little conformist fad), but do not elimiate the problem.

Ultimately, Tal is right; we all make mistakes and change mood from day to day and so the only thing to do is to do our best to stay cordial and to keep the Boards as pleasant a place as we can .

 

I think almost everyone can admit to doing this, I know I've been smart sometime like Taluntain said everyone changes moods and sometimes your in the mood to be a little smart a** that's just how people are. But, most of the time I just try to be strait up front it makes me feel better (at school is where I get most of the smart a** out of me for some reoson the teacher don't like it to much). So I'll say sorry too for any time I've been smart, but I can't promise anyone that I won't do it again because that just would not be me.

 

Now, after the post I just unloaded on the Opinions of Americans thread I feel that I have to apologize for my assyness too. I'm not apologizing for my comments, here or anywhere. I just feel the need to apologize for my penchant to resort to sarcasm. Sometimes that's the way I make my point.

 

Yes, forgive me. Funny that ambition can be everywhere you look, even on your computer screen. I'm going to refrain from one liners as much as I can from now on.

I'd like to thank these forums for helping me so much with my typing skills; believe it or not I was finger typing when I first got on here now I'm at a steady 30 words per minute with few mistakes. Whether most of it was from spamming, I'll never know.

Just don't use irony... Apparently goes straight over their heads. Sarcasm's fine. They understand that.

Ramses (below) it was a lighhearted, tounge firmly in cheek sort of comment because I think people are losing the plot with this appologising with nothing to appologise for.

The reference was that it is said that Americans do not understand irony. Don't ask me who said it or in what context.

Viking why use sarcasm and not Irony? My personal experience is to avoid both, unless you want to be a, let me use the common phrase here, Smart A**.
