I'm searching for a karate movie that I saw about 10 years ago. I saw it in french and I would probably recognize the title if I see it but I don't have a clue of the title in english...or even in chinese:(. In french it was something like «The seven great masters» but I'm absolutely not sure about that (it could be eight masters or nine or even something totally different). The only thing I have to help me in my research is what I remember of the story.
It's something like this: Seven or eight great masters with each a different fighting style join to create an ultimate fighting style. But then they got all poisoned (all but one but you only discover that near the end). The main character is the apprentice of the one who survived the poisoning. I don't remember if he have a mission or something but I remember that there is 3 or 4 clans in this movie and their leader have an almost important role in the movie. There is a big guy a little stupid who fight with a pipe (don't ask), there is that beautiful young women who fight with a flute (she's a clan leader), there is another clan leader who fight with...you know these chinese iron balls. And there is those 3 bad guys with hats like the one Raiden wear in Mortal Kombat. And there is the final boss (the one who poisoned the master at the beginning of the movie) who got only one weak spot: his throat.
It's all I remember, sorry if it's a little confuse but we talk of a movie that I saw 10 years ago. If any of you recognize the movie, I will be eternally thanksful.

  2. If the survivor is Brus lie then it could be:
    (1)eight masters give it all
    (2)the final match.
    (3)Big bad boss.
    (4)Eight masters and one aprentice.

If it was Jackie chan(dought it):
    (1)Game of death
    (2)The final (dragon)fight.

I'm not yoo sure but i've seen these movies from my cousin.(martial arts fan.Just like mua)The taps are about 10-12 years old.

    Hope I helped!!!

    Paddy!!!

Well I can't help you with the karate movie but... I now declare this thread as the official "Lost and Found movies" thread! :p

lol Western movie fans, help! :D
There was this movie that I've watched as a kid about 10 years ago as well I'd guess. The main character had 2 guns around his belt and he wore them such that their butts were facing his opponent (reverse). And in the end he gets killed in a duel but then it turns out it was a ploy and he gets out of his coffin as his friend takes him out of town to bury :)
Anyone know? I remember I loved that movie as a kid and would gladly welcome a chance to watch it again. I watched it in another language than english and a direct translation (of the translation) of the title would be "Gunman of the Crimson Lake". It might have nothing to do with original title though :bad:

Not familiar with the plot as you described it, but it has all the earmarks of either the Venoms or Gordon Liu. Can you recall any of the styles?

Does "The White Lotus" ring a bell? Don't count on the title in French being any help...the translations (as in the U.S.) don't have anything to do with the original titles. If it's an older film, it's going to be something like "Shaolin Master Killer" or "Revenge of the So-and-So." If you can tell me when it was released, that might help as well.

edit: Incidentally, what you're looking for is not a "karate movie." What you're looking for is a kung fu film. I don't think there *are* seven different styles of karate.

You're right Gonzago, it's a kung fu movie. But about the seven different styles...The seven masters I talked about with each a different style...Actually they get killed in the five first minutes of the movie, it's the introduction. It's just to say they created a «super» fighting style together. But one of them survive and stay hidden until near the end. The protagonist is the student of the one who survived (so he learned the «super» fighting style). I'm pretty sure it's not with Jet Li, Jackie Chan or Bruce Lee. It must be at least 15 years old (the movie).

My browsing/searching skills aren't all that honed, but take a look at this site and see what you can come up with...

Dang! I remember seeing this movie!!! They were al looking for the book or manual that had the "ultimate" fighting style, and they were all looking for the protagonist because they thought he knew where it was, only to find out that he knew the style and wanted to smoke out the murderer (or something like that...)

    Dang! :)

I'll see if I can find out...

I've been trying to recall it... I hope i got it.

I think the title has something like "the snake and crane fist" somwhere in it. If I remember right, the ultimate kung-fu style was called snake and crane. I remember wondering why it was called that inspite of having more than two kung-fu styles.

    I hope that helps...

    :)

The movie you talk about eveningdrive is: «snake and crane arts of shaolin», with Jackie Chan. I'm not sure if it's my movie but it seem good though. Thanks for your help.
