Stuck In Durlag's Tower

I've killed the 4 elemental thingy's (fire, ice, air, slime) but nothing else is happening. I've read a walkthrough saying that I'm supposed to get teleported to the "chess room" but nothing happens. I just end up walking around in circles. Is there some door that opens so that you can go to the chess room or is it just a bug??

 

Well, are you sure you've beaten them all ? Both Phoenix Guards, that darned jelly, all the Winter Wolves and the bear, and the Air.. something ?

 

I've killed all the things in the ice room (the bear and all the wolves), I burned up the slime, killed the air dragon thingy and the invisible stalkers and then kelled bot the guards killing the female before she uses her bow like the face says. what next????

 

Just a thought, are you sure you've killed all of the invisible stalkers - after all they are invisible. I seem to remember when I did this bit (and it was a long time ago) that there were nasties hidden right in the far corners of most of these rooms. Try wondering around to see if anything starts hitting you!

I also seem to remember that I left the room and was moving down a central corridor before getting transported to the chess room. But like I said it was a long time ago. Sorry I can't help more.

 

Dammit!!! I've killed everything on the whole level, the skeleton's the stupid wyvern's the statues, the invisible thing in the maze and I've dispelled invisibility in every room there is!!!! Arrrrgh!!! It's gotta be a bug!!!!!

I had this happen to me as well some time back. I also was advised to 're-check' things as well as install the patch. Without success.

I unfortunately hadn't developed the 'much more successful' habit of saving games and using quicksave as I do now. So check to see if your Auto-Save game or any other game is recent and load it. Play it and see if the glitch fixes itself. I ended up having to reload a game that was near the Succubus (sp?) on the very top level of the Tower. But when I got to the level of the Chess game I had 4 or 5 saves (I atually needed them because the glitch happened to me again) but I eventually was transported to the Chessboard and continued on.

I've just seen from the other post asking about hints for the chess game, that you still haven't managed to find a way to beat the bug in you game.

I haven't got any more ideas but I have recently reinstalled BG and see that I have a save game just after being teleported into the chess match. My version has me, Ajantis, Yeslick, Imoen, Xan and Dynaheir. If you are interested I could email it to you. You could play it as is, or fiddle around with an editor to import your characters, stats, etc.

I s'pose you could try napping in the rooms --- IF beasties are hiding, that usually brings 'em out

yes it is a bug, its happened to me too
unfortunately when it does happen it mean you have to start TOSC all over again and hope it works the 2nd time, if not repeat
I just gave up in the end and went on to bgII

 

If I recall, gaining access to alot of the areas in Durlag's Keep were dependent on obtaining certain runestones...I do remember having quite a few taking up inventory slots after I completed it.

I don't remember whether this particular scenario required gaining a certain runestone or not. Could be the problem.

Hi Cerryl, and everyone else, too!
I kept getting my butt whipped on the chess-board, so I left D's Tower thinking I'd come back when I was tougher. Well, now I'm tougher, I'm back at D's Tower, and guess what? I can't get back to level 4! >>> I can't seem to get some of the shifting doors to open. Probably because the Helmet is not in the throne room (I must have taken it?). My question is: Do you only get 1 chance in D's Tower --- NO leaving & returning? Do I will have to reload (like Cerryl) and start ALL OVER
Isn't there a CLUA code that allows me to "hop" to where my mouse pointer is? Anyone happen to know what it is?

BTW: The code I wanted (but didn't need or use) is CLUAConsole:EnableCheatKeys then Ctrl+J (this "jumps" the group to where the mouse-pointer is)

Ace I think it's no "general" problem. You must have lost some runestone or some other thingy, because I lost 2 party members in level 4 so i went to the Temple in Nashkel and back in the Tower without (major)problems.

 

Heh heh. Returned, took a nap in the throne room, and was then able to pick the lock on the South door(of throne room). Onward to more butt-kickins.
